Our client came to us with an issue pertaining to the rear tailgate not opening. On this particular Nissan, there is no mechanical cable driven system, the latch is electronic, and the only release is a touch pad sensor mounted in the rear applique. We duplicated the concern and had to enter the rear of the car over top of the seats, pulling the trim off, to expose the components and wiring. After checking the diagram to see how the sensor communicates to the intelligent key module, to the body control module, through fused 15a protection, and sends signal to the latch for release, we saw an opportunity for quick verification by jumping to a shared ground. This allowed us to check operation of the latch assembly and confirm it was working, watching scanner data we could see the request made, telling us the key module and BCM were in function too, and that our client just needed a new touch pad. A quick call to Nissan and within hours out guest was back on the road ready to load the weeks groceries without bending backwards over their seat.

Nothing that couldn't be handled at RCS Automotive where we are equipped to service your medium duty vehicles safely and affordably.

Our guest was towed in for a rough running concern on their Nissan Altima. Initially we started with a basic code scan where we found multiple hard circuit codes stored in the system, they would immediately return upon clearing, so we were considering the likelihood of a failed ground. We were a little shocked when we found the failure was likely due to a groundhog. The entire EGI harness had multiple breaks and chew marks throughout the entire assembly, crossing certain connections, and even blowing out fuses. Nissan wanted thousands to replace the entire harness with a long wait time on receiving the parts. We carefully took everything apart to isolate all the issues and determine if we could run new wiring connections to make this repair affordable and a fast turn around. Several hours later after performing pin outs, solder and heat shrink connections, tape and loom, we had a vehicle that would start and run perfectly, and earned one new very satisfied customer!

Our client came to us with a check engine light, bucking, and general lack of power. We took a look into the issue by first scanning for codes and finding some turbo boost sensor codes along with air meter codes. These particular codes were very much the age old story of what came first the chicken or the egg, as both could create false coding, to trigger another code from inaccurate readings. Once we got our eyes on the mass air flow sensor and found that someone had rigged it together with rtv to glue the connector on, this bending a terminal over in the sensor, we knew that a MAF replacement was warranted to correct the issue. Once installed our air intake readings were producing correct value and the engine instantly started to run better.

In today for a batch of maintenance is this pristine condition 1989 Dodge Caravan 2.5 Turbo 5 speed with 68,000 original miles. This was the vehicle that created the minivan world all while this particular drivetrain allowed to be a sleeper of a car, sharing the Dodge Omni and Daytona platform, giving quite the punch and performance to haul a family of 5. We are performing all back due maintenance, timing belt and water pump, oil change, fluid flushes, and a tune up to keep this thing zooming down the road

Today's seasonal ride prep goes to this gorgeous 2018 Porsche Cayman S coming in for its PM3 service along with a couple other recommendations on the way. The Cayman S packs a lot of punch in its package and styling, unlike the iconic 911's, these see a lot more daily usage and mileage, which means upkeep to keep from expensive repairs. If your seasonal ride is ready to come out of hibernation, and you're looking for a facility to make sure you're set for summer cruising, give RCS Automotive a call! (330) 328-7464.

Our client brought us their 2018 Chevrolet Spark when they noticed they were no longer able to keep up with Lamborghinis on the highway. After doing some research into the concern we were able to identify all the necessary steps to get this car back to its Scootin' potential. The fuel trims reflected the wrong octane was in the car, as the high performance Spark was designed to run off of Jet Fuel, and on top of that, it was overdue for an oil change with the performance enhancing products we offer. After some slight modifications we had this Chevrolet Spark doing 135mph with a peak 110hp on the dyno. If you're looking to go fast and take chances in your Chevrolet Spark, give RCS Automotive a call!

Next up in preparation for the car show season is this 2003 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 50th anniversary. We had this guest in prior for some routine maintenance after they picked the vehicle up and discussed some over due maintenance items and repairs that were needing to be made. Of course Ohio weather hasn't been cooperating with flips between 30 and 80 degrees but our guest decided to brave a couple sprinkles of rain to get these items addressed and out of the way. We are servicing the drivetrain, upgrading to rear differential LS fluid, a brake fluid and clutch fluid dot 4 service, and taking care of a pesky abs and traction control light. Looking forward to getting this ready for our clients care and coffee attendance or maybe even a track event!

Today we have this amazing 1972 Mercury Montego in for service, trouble shooting a hot stall concern, and buttoning up loose ends. 51k original miles on this prestige "gentleman's Gran Torino" and doesn't show a day of age. We managed to get it inside the building with only a mist of the rain that was coming in. Looking forward to how this one turns out and screams away for our customer!

It's amazing how many compound issues can be solved on modern vehicles with the repair of a ground. Here we have the primary braided ground strap off our customers Chevrolet Express box truck that was towed into our facility for a crank no start. The client had made some road side checks before assuming a fuel pump replacement was needed. Prior to just replacing the fuel pump we discussed options of performing a diagnostic to determine the concern for our guest. Once authorized we were able to see several voltage codes and communication codes leading us to believe the fuel pump was not the culprit. After making good ground on the rear frame we still didn't have the fuel pump energizing and moved forward into the engine bay. A simple finger tug on the braided cable had it disintegrating in our hand telling us the vehicle was struggling electrically to ground all voltage and signals. GM of course sells it as an entire cable and harness assembly that was not immediately available so we sourced our own to get our customer up and running.. and at a significantly less amount than they were expecting to pay.
