⚠️ JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE A ROLLBACK OR WRECKER DOESN’T MEAN THEY’RE LEGAL. ⚠️

Facebook yard sale pages are full of “I got a guy” and “My buddy has a rollback.” But owning a rollback does not automatically make someone a legitimate towing company.

Before trusting someone with a vehicle worth thousands of dollars, ask questions:

👉 Do they have the proper FOR-HIRE registration/tags to haul vehicles for compensation?
👉 Do they carry proper commercial towing insurance?
👉 Is the business properly registered and operating legally?
👉 Is their equipment properly maintained and insured?
👉 If they damage your vehicle, who is paying for it?

There’s a big difference between owning a rollback and operating a legitimate towing business.

Legitimate towing companies spend hundreds of thousands of dollars every year on commercial insurance, FOR-HIRE registration, equipment, maintenance, licensing and the other expenses required to operate professionally.

That $25 or $50 you saved using somebody from a Facebook yard sale page won’t seem like much when your vehicle is damaged and you discover they weren’t properly insured to begin with.

💡 Know who you’re handing your keys to.

Support the legitimate local businesses that invest in doing things the right way,not just the cheapest person in the Facebook comments with a rollback.

Just wanted to clear up any rumors. A&A Towing is still in Starbuck. We have requested to be a part of the Sherriff’s rotation for 2 years and have been denied without a valid reason. So the Starbuck office is unmanned and 2 full time positions have been lost due to it. But we are still avaliable and are more than happy to do your tows. Remember you have the right to request your own towing company Call (320)815-7987 and we will have someone on the way!

Thank you for all the great years of service!

I want to let the citizens of Swift County know that after nearly 28 years of being in law enforcement and 16 years as your Sheriff, I will be retiring June 12, 2026. I have cherished all these years of serving all the communities of Swift. I can retire knowing I am leaving you in good hands.

As you are aware, Chief Deputy Mike Hoffman is a long-term veteran and has been part of the Swift County Sheriff's Office for the past 15 years with the last 5 years being my Chief Deputy. Chief Deputy Mike Hoffman will continue to do great things here in Swift County.

I want to thank everyone to whom I have worked with and those who have supported me along with the friendships created.

🕊️ Today marks the third anniversary of the day we lost one of our own.

On April 15, 2023—his 44th birthday—Pope County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Owen made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a domestic violence call in Cyrus, Minnesota. In an instant of unimaginable bravery, Deputy Owen stepped forward to protect his community and his fellow officers, and he never came home.

A proud veteran of the Minnesota National Guard who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Deputy Owen lived a life defined by service—to his country, to his state, and to every citizen who called Pope County home. With nearly 12 years on the job, he wore the badge with honor, courage, and an unwavering commitment to the thin blue line that safeguards our freedoms.

His sacrifice reminds us of the profound cost of the peace we too often take for granted. He stood ready when others could not. He answered the call when danger came knocking. He gave everything so that others could live in safety.

To his wife Shannon, his son Rylan, his brothers and sisters in the Pope County Sheriff’s Office, and all who loved him—we carry your pain in our hearts today. You are not alone. The entire Minnesota law enforcement family stands with you, honors his memory, and vows to continue the watch he so faithfully kept.

Rest easy, Deputy Owen. Your watch has ended, but your legacy of selfless service will inspire generations of protectors who follow in your footsteps.
