Leadership isn’t about having people work for you. It’s about becoming someone people want to follow.
That means leading with humility. It means putting your people first, having their best interest at heart, and setting the example every single day. Trust isn’t demanded. It’s earned.
But here’s something I’ve learned after more than 20 years as a contractor and business owner…
People are the heart of every business, but numbers are the foundation of truth.
Your numbers don’t lie. They tell you if you’re profitable, if you’re growing, if you’re making the right decisions, or if you’re headed toward trouble. That’s why I coach contractors from their numbers. You can’t build a strong business on assumptions, opinions, or misleading financials. The numbers give us the truth, and from that truth we make better decisions for our people.
The greatest businesses I’ve seen aren’t built by choosing between people or profits. They’re built by leaders who understand both.
This is why I coach contractors. I understand contractors because I am a contractor. I’ve spent more than two decades in this industry, learning many of these lessons the hard way so you don’t have to.
It’s also why I teach high school business classes part-time. Our young people don’t just need business education—they need leaders. They need someone willing to teach them the fundamentals of business, leadership, character, and responsibility before the real world teaches them the hard way.
Teaching and coaching aren’t jobs to me. They’re my passion. Passing on what I’ve spent my life learning is one of the greatest privileges I have.
If you’re a contractor who wants to build a business with a solid foundation, lead your team well, understand your numbers, and grow with confidence, let’s talk.
