📚✏️ Back-to-School is Almost Here! 🍎
A new school year means new teachers, new routines, new opportunities…and for many students, new worries too.
Here are a few ways to help your child start the year strong:
✅ Start adjusting bedtime and wake-up routines now.
✅ Talk positively about school and listen to any fears or concerns.
✅ Create a consistent homework and evening routine before the first day.
✅ Encourage organization with a planner or calendar.
✅ Focus on progress, not perfection. Every child adjusts at their own pace.
✅ Check in daily with one simple question: “What was the best part of your day?” (Instead of just asking, “How was school?”)
Remember, behavior is communication. If your child seems more emotional, anxious, withdrawn, or frustrated during those first few weeks, they may be having a harder time adjusting than they’re able to express.
💚At Ascend Mental Health Coaching & Consulting, we’re here to support children, teens, and families as they navigate school-related stress, anxiety, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and life transitions. Sometimes just a few sessions can make a world of difference in helping a child regain confidence and helping parents feel equipped with practical strategies.
🎯 As a free gift, I’ve attached a Back-to-School Goals Worksheet that families can print and complete together. It’s designed for students of all ages (from elementary through high school) and is a great way to start meaningful conversations, set goals, and head into the school year with purpose.
📥 Feel free to print it, and share it with another family who could use it!
