South SLO county chamber leadership program fosters leaders with diverse backgrounds to effectively work together to empower tomorrow’s community leaders.

What an inspiring Leadership South County Tourism Day! 🌟

We kicked off with the incredible CultureStoke on leadership values, then dove into tourism marketing with Verdin Marketing. 🎯 Highlights included a robust panel of local leaders impacted by tourism: Jorge Garcia (City Manager, City of Pismo Beach), Nicole Moore (Shorebird Hotel Group), and Scott Schirmer (Vista Lago Adventure Park/Mustang Waterslides). 🗣️🏖️🎢

Lastly, we heard from Jon O’Brien, District superintendent of the Oceano dunes State Park. Topics included the future of off highway vehicles (OHV) use on the park, habitat conservation plans, recreational use and of course how the dunes impact tourism in our South County. 🌊

Last Friday, Leadership South County participated in Arts & Education Day! 🎨🎭📚 We started with an awesome leadership development session from CultureStoke ☀️

Big thanks to the Clark Center for the Performing Arts for hosting us and to our wonderful guest speakers: Dr. Paul Fawcett (Superintendent, Lucia Mar USD), Kristin Anderson (CTE, LMUSD), and Michael Specchierla (SLO County Office of Education & SLO Partners). 🗣️👏

We then shifted gears to the arts and enjoyed a fantastic Clark Center tour, heard from Cindy Blankenburg (Arroyo Grande Public Art), and toured the Great American Melodrama with Stacey & Johnny. Later that night, some of us caught the Melodrama performance of The Piratess! 🎟️🌟

🏥 What a fantastic Health & Wellness Day with Leadership South County!

🧡💜 Huge thanks to Dignity Health for hosting us at the Matthew Will Memorial Building and to the Grover Beach Community Foundation for sponsoring the day. We heard inspiring speakers from across the health & wellness field and connected with our community. The highlight of the day was Class VII discussing and choosing their Legacy Project! 🎉 Leadership South County Class VII retreat complete!

Our leadership team is so proud of everyone leaning into this experience, showing up on time, and fully absorbing the lessons. The weekend was all about self-reflection, making those first connections, and committing to growth. What is learned here leaves here.

From hikes and long walks to hot sauce to “closeted introverts” coming out of their shells, we are so stoked for this class. 🌲🥾🌶️

🎉 Welcome, Class VII! 🎉 Last night’s Leadership Orientation was a wonderful kickoff! We’re so excited to watch this great group embark on a 10-month journey to learn more about our area and develop and fine-tune their leadership skills. 🌟📍🤝

Thank you to the board members who came out, and a big thank you to CultureStoke for setting us up and leveling us up year after year ♥️🖤 Next up: the retreat! This program wouldn’t happen without the support of our amazing team Marty, Wes, Ligia & Aaron and the Chamber for hosting 👏
