At Boutte Tree we believe in the power of trees to transform the urban environment and make it aesthetically pleasing. Trees are able to this because they can provide more foliage, shade, and natural beauty per square foot of real estate than any other plant or landscape can do. In a city like Atlanta land is a valuable commodity and should never be wasted. When compared to landscaped areas, trees are more magnificent, offer shade, require less maintenance, and are permanent fixtures that become part of the fabric of our city. Landscaped areas are small, decorative, expensive to maintain, and being decorations do not become part of a city but merely adorn it. (This is not true of all landscaped areas, but it is usually true of landscaped portions of the streetscape)

A leaning tree gets a lot of anxious phone calls, and honestly, not every lean is a problem. Some trees grow at an angle their whole lives, reaching toward sunlight or shaped by wind patterns over decades, and they're perfectly stable that way.

What actually signals danger is a sudden change: a lean that wasn't there last month, soil lifting or cracking on one side of the base, or exposed roots on the side opposite the lean. Those signs suggest the root system is failing, not just that a tree grew a little crooked.

If you're not sure which one you're looking at, have an arborist check rather than guess. A five-minute assessment can tell you whether it's nothing to worry about or something to act on quickly.

Some trees just aren't a bucket truck job. When a large removal is too tall, too close to a structure, or growing somewhere a truck can't get proper access, crane-assisted removal becomes the safer and often faster option.

A crane lets us lift and lower sections in a controlled way rather than relying on climbers to make every cut and lower every piece by rope. That matters most on large trees near power lines, rooflines, or tight commercial sites where there's little margin for error.

Right now, before leaves start dropping across Metro Atlanta, is one of the easiest times of year to actually see the base of a tree. Once fall cleanup season hits and the ground fills with leaf litter, spotting a problem at the root flare gets a lot harder.

The root flare, where the trunk widens out into the roots, tells an arborist a lot: girdling roots, mulch piled too high, decay starting at the base, or a lean that's developed over time. Catching an issue here early often means the difference between a simple fix and a much bigger problem down the line.
