An investigation is underway after a man died from a gunshot wound at a gun range in Cudahy on Friday.

A Kane County Sheriff's Deputy had an AR-15 rifle stolen from their squad car after leaving the gun inside the vehicle while it was parked at their home in Aurora Tuesday morning.

The Kane County Sheriff's Office said Thursday that the incident happened during the early morning hours on Tuesday.

A Kane County Sheriff's Office deputy's squad vehicle was burglarized while parked at the deputy's residence in Aurora.

A county-owned Aero Precision AR-15 rifle was stolen from the vehicle during the break-in. Sheriff's officials did not say whether the car was left unlocked or not.

"Based on the information currently available, investigators believe this was an isolated incident," the sheriff's office said.

The Kane County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division began investigating the burglary and theft and has been actively developing and pursuing leads associated with potential suspects.

"Due to the active nature of those investigative efforts, the Sheriff's Office initially limited the information being released publicly. Releasing additional details at that stage could have jeopardized leads and efforts to identify and locate those potentially involved," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary is asked to contact the Kane County Sheriff's Office Investigations Division at 630-444-1103.

The Kane County Sheriff's Office of Professional Standards is separately conducting an internal administrative review to determine whether sheriff's office policies and procedures were followed. "Additional information will be released when appropriate and when doing so will not compromise the ongoing investigation"

Built for heroes. Backed for life.

Staccato 2011 today announced an important expansion of its Lifetime Warranty on handguns. Effective immediately, the warranty follows every Staccato firearm for its lifetime, regardless of where it was purchased or how many owners it has had.

“Lifetime should mean lifetime. The warranty should follow the firearm, not stop when ownership changes. Our customers invest in Staccato because they expect lasting support and performance. We intend to stand behind every Staccato we have built, support every owner who relies on it, and earn that trust for life.” Buck Pierson, CEO of Staccato.

The warranty covers eligible defects and failures, including:

Issues affecting function or accuracy
Cracked frames, slides or barrels
Broken thumb/grip safeties, slide stops, ejectors, extractors or grips
Coating delamination caused by a factory preparation or application issue
Factory blending required to correct contact hot spots
Normal wear items are not covered under warranty. These include springs, magazine followers, and coating wear caused by holster contact or hard use. Damage or malfunctions caused by aftermarket parts are also excluded.

Staccato may repair non-covered issues for a fee. When parts must be replaced, Staccato will use factory components. All claims remain subject to inspection and Staccato’s final coverage determination.

This lifetime warranty applies only to Staccato-branded fi****ms. The single-stack Staccato C and the original 4.15-inch Staccato P are also included because STI released them as Staccato models.

Legacy STI fi****ms are not included, but we will repair them for a fee.

Complete warranty terms and claim instructions are available at staccato2011.com/warranty.

Customers who have already registered their gun with Staccato do not need to update their warranty online; the updated warranty terms take effect immediately for existing handgun registrations.

Customers who purchase a pre-owned Staccato must re-register under their name using this link: https://staccato2011.com/activate-warranty

Alright, let’s clear this one up because the comment section has had THOUGHTS. 👀

We’ve received a few (and by a few, we mean A LOT) of comments regarding concealed carry at the upcoming 250 Celebration, with some people concerned that this is a rule being created by the police departments or event organizers…

It isn’t.

This is Illinois law.

Under 430 ILCS 66/65(a)(10) of the Illinois Firearm Concealed Carry Act, concealed carry is prohibited at a public gathering or special event conducted on property open to the public when that event requires a permit from the local government.

For our Illinois Concealed Carry License holders, prohibited areas should sound familiar. Illinois CCL training is required to cover applicable firearm laws, with specific emphasis on Section 65, the section addressing prohibited areas.

We understand and respect that people have strong feelings regarding their Second Amendment rights. We’re not posting this to debate those rights, and we’re certainly not creating our own firearm laws for the 250 Celebration.

We’re simply following the law that is already in place.

And because we would much rather you verify something for yourself than take Facebook’s word for it, we encourage anyone with questions to read the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Chapter 430, Act 66, Section 65 for a comprehensive list of prohibited places and any exemptions.

So no, HHPD and Norridge PD did not get together and decide to take away anyone’s concealed carry rights for the weekend. We promise we have enough to do getting ready for this fest without writing our own Illinois laws.

Now… can we get back to arguing about something less controversial, like whether funnel cake counts as a meal?
