Nothing says summer kickoff quite like a little friendly competition!

Last week, our Roanoke Connection Committee brought the team together for a co****le tournament full of laughs, teamwork, and great energy. Events like these may seem simple, but they play a big role in building the connections that make MOI special.

At MOI, our Connection Committees help create moments that bring people together beyond the day-to-day — strengthening relationships, building culture, and making work a place people genuinely enjoy being.

Shoutout to our Roanoke team for bringing the fun (and the competitive spirit) to start the summer strong.

Earlier this month, our Virginia Beach team participated in a community event supporting the The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command — an organization doing incredible work across the Hampton Roads region.

Even more special, our Director of Sales, Angela Whilden, serves on the organization’s Advisory Board, making this a meaningful connection between leadership, service, and community.

Proud of our team for showing up and giving back where it matters most.

Healthcare spaces aren’t static—and they shouldn’t be designed that way.

The most effective environments aren’t just efficient today—they’re built to adapt as care evolves. That means designing around real workflows, real people, and real change.

At MOI, we help clients experience that flexibility before it’s built—so they can plan with confidence.

Big recognition for our partners at MillerKnoll — named to USA Today’s America’s Climate Leaders 2026 list.

Why does this matter to us at MOI? Because our clients are thinking beyond just furniture. They’re thinking about sustainability, long-term impact, reuse, responsible materials, and creating spaces that perform better for people and the planet.

Working alongside partners committed to environmental leadership helps us bring smarter, more sustainable solutions to every project — from workplace to healthcare, education, and government spaces.

Great design should leave a lasting impact — not a larger footprint.

What happens when employee ownership meets community impact?

For Reilley Wehrstein, it means stepping up—leading MOI’s DC Connection Committee and creating moments that matter beyond the workplace.

During a recent blood drive she helped organize, 25 donors showed up to give back. That’s the impact of a culture where people don’t just show up for work—they show up for each other.

At MOI, Connection Committees aren’t just about events.
They’re about building a workplace where purpose, community, and action intersect.

Student success doesn’t start with curriculum alone—it starts with the environment.

As higher education evolves, spaces need to support how students actually learn, connect, and prepare for their careers.

That means flexibility.
That means connection.
That means designing beyond the traditional classroom.

At MOI, we help bring these ideas to life so students can see and experience what’s possible.

In partnership with The Nature Conservancy, Hugo & Hoby invited MOI to Canaan Valley, WV—where we got our hands dirty replanting red spruce and fir forests and seeing conservation work in action.

What started as a trip turned into something more. A chance to step into the Appalachian landscape together and witness the real impact behind our shared commitment—135,000+ trees planted and growing through projects like ours.

Proof that the work doesn’t stop at the project—it grows well beyond it.

Recently, our Baltimore team stepped out onto the patio to plant herb gardens and spend time together outside the day-to-day.

It’s a simple idea, but that’s the point. Our Connection Committees create space for moments like this—where people can connect, recharge, and grow something that lasts.

Because strong culture isn’t built in meetings. It’s built in moments.

We recently visited one of our local Baltimore manufacturing partners, Sandtown Furniture Company — and it’s safe to say, we left inspired.

What they’re doing goes far beyond furniture. Sandtown salvages wood from in and around Baltimore— often from trees that would otherwise be discarded — and transforms it into one-of-a-kind, handcrafted pieces full of character and history.

It’s a powerful reminder that sustainability isn’t just about materials — it’s about mindset. Seeing value where others see waste. Creating something meaningful from what already exists.

Because when you keep things local, intentional, and sustainable — the impact goes a lot further than the finished product.
