AISI looks forward to working with the newly elected 120th Congress on issues important to American steel producers.

“Ensuring a strong domestic steel industry is a bipartisan endeavor,” said AISI President and CEO Kevin Dempsey. “Steel serves as the backbone of our national defense, infrastructure, energy production, manufacturing base, economy and everyday life.”

Today, AISI led a coalition of domestic steel and manufacturing organizations in a letter urging House and Senate leadership to include the bipartisan SHIPS for America Act (H.R. 3151, S. 1541) in the final FY 2027 National Defense Authorization Act.

Rebuilding American shipbuilding is essential to America's national and economic security. While key aspects of the SHIPS for America Act were included in the House-passed NDAA, additional provisions of the full bill are needed to revitalize the domestic shipbuilding and commercial maritime industries and support thousands of jobs at U.S. shipyards and throughout the supply chain, including American steelmakers.

Robots are heading to the classroom in Arkansas. AISI member Tenaris has donated four industrial robots, valued at more than $200,000, to Arkansas Northeastern College and is launching an annual scholarship for five students pursuing degrees in Advanced Manufacturing and Steel Technology.

Marking 20 years in Mississippi County, Tenaris is giving the next generation of steelworkers hands-on experience with the technology driving modern manufacturing. Learn more ⬇️

In celebration of 20 years of operations in Mississippi County, Tenaris expands partnership with Arkansas Northeastern College (ANC) through a robotic equipment donation and a new, annual scholarship program.

Members of the AISI team were proud to join AISI member SSAB Americas, associate member Alter Trading and The Greenbrier Companies to mark the launch of a closed-loop steel recycling initiative. The effort begins at SSAB’s Iowa operations, where SSAB Zero™ steel is produced from recycled metals and fossil-free energy.

Greenbrier is using SSAB Zero™ to build 50 gondola railcars for Alter. The railcars will carry recycled metals back to SSAB to be made into new steel, closing the loop within an existing supply chain.

The project shows how collaboration across the value chain can bring near-zero emissions steel to demanding industrial applications at scale.
