Governor Ron DeSantis has officially signed Florida House Bill 157 into law. This new legislation brings important changes that will directly impact how registered agents handle process service in Florida. The changes will go into effect October 1, 2025.

Key highlights of the bill include:

Expanded R/A Office Hours: Registered agents will now be required to keep their designated office open for process service during additional hours. The previously required window of 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM will be expanded to include 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).

Service on Employees: The law specifies that process may now be served to an employee of the registered agent present at the registered office on the first attempt, following applicable legal procedures.

Clarified Service Methods: The bill also outlines specific methods for serving process, ensuring greater clarity and efficiency for all parties involved.

This updated law will take effect on October 1, 2025.

The Clerk’s office will close at 3 p.m. tomorrow, and we will remain closed Wednesday and Thursday.

All court hearings scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 8 are NOT canceled and remain as scheduled. Please do not miss your court hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Court Hearings: All canceled court hearings will be rescheduled, and you will receive a notice with the new court date. You can also register to receive reminders about upcoming hearing dates at https://enotify.flcourts.org/.

Payments: Traffic tickets and court fines can be paid online. Deadlines will be extended until we reopen for those that can’t pay online.
