His dad couldn't understand why he wouldn't just fix the machinery.

Dan Aberhart naturally operates in a different way than his father, and that led to some trials and tribulations working on the family farm.

So when Dan and his brother became business leaders, they knew they needed to lean in to a strengths-based approach. Turns out, that made a huge difference both personally and professionally.

Good leaders play checkers, but great leaders play chess ♟️

in checkers, every piece works the same way. In chess, you have to know what each piece is actually capable of and deploy them strategically.

Amy Bruske, President of Kolbe Corp, says that’s exactly what leadership demands of us right now.

Most people have spent their careers, getting good at things that aren’t actually in their natural strengths. They can do the work, but it cost them more than it should.

Real leadership means helping your people understand the difference between what they’re skilled at and what they’re wired for.

That’s where we’re seeing performance become genuinely sustainable.

You can't feel joy on autopilot.

That's just a sneak peek of what Amy Bruske said on the Beats Working podcast with Dan Rogers.

They get into what it actually looks like to lead when everything is accelerating and clarity is harder to come by than speed.

Show up for your life. (Or don't. But you'll feel the difference).

57% of employees working against their instincts are thinking about leaving. Only 21% have energy left for life outside work.

The Workplace Reality Report is an essential study for understanding why so many employees find themselves job-hunting.

It turns out, one of the single biggest factors is often overlooked: alignment.

Employees working with their instinctive strengths are 6x less likely to be job-hunting than those whose day-to-day work is misaligned.

There are 3 types of people at work with you.

Some people pitch ideas constantly. Others pump the brakes. And a third group just makes the ideas work.

That's isn't their personality (it's actually their INSTINCTS).

The three types:
👉 Innovators experiment without hesitation. Without them, breakthroughs don't happen.
👉 Status quo protectors keep the team from chasing every distraction. They're the only thing standing between an idea and a failure.
👉 And there are those who make ideas actually work. They're open to change, but not reckless about it.

You need all three. Teams don't struggle because of missing talent; they struggle because of missing awareness.

She was getting promoted regularly. You'd never think she was also miserable.

From the outside, everything looked like success.

On the inside, something was off, and she didn't have language for it yet.

Then Kathy Kolbe, founder of Kolbe Corp, asked her a single question: "How do you define success?"

She gave the answer she'd always given herself. Keep growing, take on more challenges, etc.

Kathy's definition was simpler: "The freedom to be yourself."

That was the day Amy Bruske realized the career she'd built looked right and felt wrong.

Working against your instincts may look like never-ending riches on the surface, but it certainly doesn't last.

Find out how you're naturally wired to work. Take the Kolbe A™ Index at Kolbe.com.

Is there anything more awkward than being accused of having a “favorite” child?

It turns out, there’s often a very simple explanation for this perceived bias. And there’s also a very simple solution that can help make every child feel like the favorite!
