51. And baby, I do not take this birthday lightly. ❤️
I have lived long enough to know another year is not promised.
I have faced death close enough, more than once, to understand that being here is a gift.
So birthdays hit differently for me now.
Yes, I celebrate the candles, pictures, ch*****ne, people I love, and all the beauty that comes with another trip around the sun.
But underneath it all is something deeper:
Gratitude.
Gratitude that God allowed me to stay.
Gratitude for the life I get to live.
Gratitude that somewhere along the way, I stopped believing happiness, peace, success, or freedom had to come from outside of me.
Another title.
Another accomplishment.
Another dollar.
Another person’s approval.
No.
The older I get, the more I understand that freedom starts inside.
It is knowing who you are, trusting yourself, listening when God is moving you, choosing the life that belongs to you, and having the courage to build it.
Entrepreneurship has given me a beautiful kind of freedom. Not because every day is easy. Lord knows it is not. 😂
But I get to choose.
I get to build, create, use my gifts for meaningful work, and live a life with room for my family, purpose, ambition, peace, and ME.
One of the greatest honors of my life has been walking beside women as they create more freedom for themselves too.
Women who have spent years caring for everyone else, building careers, leading, solving, achieving, and doing what needed to be done.
And somewhere along the way, they begin asking:
What do I want now?
I understand that question differently at 51.
When you have almost lost your life, you become far less interested in living one that does not feel like yours.
So today, I am not counting what I have not done yet.
I am celebrating what is already here:
My family.
My work.
My purpose.
My peace.
My freedom.
My faith.
My laughter.
My lessons.
The people I love and serve.
And this beautiful, messy, still-unfolding life God has trusted me with.
51 years old.
Still learning.
Still becoming.
Still building.
Still laughing.
Still dreaming BIG.
And yes…
Still that girl. ❤️
Happy Birthday to me. 🎂🥂
Here’s to more life, freedom, purpose, love, and living.
Because I am still here.
And I plan to make it count. ❤️
