From Issue 1 to 119: 1966 to 2026
Sixty years of believing in the power of poetry and poets.

As Denise Levertov reminds us in her essay, "The Poet in the World": "When words pe*****te deep into us they change the chemistry of the soul, of the imagination. We have no right to do that to people if we don't share the consequences."

HLP is honored to have shared the consequences with you throughout these 60 years.

Look out for issue 119 coming soon.

We'll be 60 in September and we couldn't have come this far without you.

Issue 1 artist: Mimi Gross
Issue 119 artist: Claudia Fulshaw

Thanks, Frank Murphy, for stopping by to brighten up our day, and for buying books!

HLP 60: We couldn't have made it this far without you, our supporters, and your six decades of sending in your work, subscribing to our magazine, buying our books, coming to our events, spreading the word about us, generously supporting our fundraisers, and so much more.

Frank Murphy, you epitomize all of this and more. Your long relationship with Bob Hershon and the press for all these years has been a cornerstone of HLP, helping to keep us as viable and independent as we can be.

You can read Frank’s recent work in Hanging Loose issues 118 & 119.

Support independent poets and presses, y’all.

Come schmooze with us: Anahita, Andi, Joanna and Jiwon will be holding down the fort!

HLP will be 60 in September and we couldn’t have done it without you.
