The Greatest You by Carlene Fonseca

The Greatest You by Carlene Fonseca We empower individuals to center wellness and healing in their lives. Carlene Fonseca is the Founder & CEO of Greatest You Consulting.

Carlene is a trailblazing millennial with over 10 years of unique experiences as a professional and community leader. Carlene is a first generation Cape Verdean American who strongly believes education, empowerment and self-advocacy is the key to opening up doors. Carlene pursued her dream of going to school in Washington, DC., receiving her B.A. in Government from Georgetown University and her M.

A. in Criminology at The George Washington University. Carlene is mother to a 2 year old named Reyna, is an avid reader, a lifelong learner, enjoys living a healthy lifestyle both physically and emotionally, and empowering others in the community. I was raised by a true village of mentors, community members, family and peers. That is why I started The Greatest You Consulting (GYC) to give individuals and organizations a support and accountability system so clients can also become their greatest self and/or ensure their organization is doing the best work it can in the communities it serves. For many 2020 was the most difficult year of their lives, fortunately for me it was the best year of my life. 2020 taught me purpose, sacrifice, self determination and grit can overcome anything. I used 2020 to propel me into the best version of myself. Like many, I was content in many areas of my life. Often we feel stuck and don’t know our next moves or where to turn. Instead of waiting around for something or someone, I started working on myself. I identified past traumas in my life and faced them head on, I started a weight and health journey and now commit to working out 5x a week and meal prepping. I worked on building my skills and touching up on my language & technical skills. I joined various financial wealth groups, got certifications, read more books than I had in a decade, and increased my knowledge of diversifying my income and investment. Greatest You Consulting works with both individuals and organizations. Through a collective and conscious lens, GYC offers consulting, strategic planning, and access to community resources, to help you identify and remove those barriers impeding your success. The mission of GYC is to educate, collaborate and coach clients toward conscious productivity and fulfilling their dreams and work in collaboration with community partners to ensure clients have access to an array of resources and opportunities. By partnering with me, clients will reach a higher level of conscious growth and remove barriers to their productivity. As a young woman of color, I am best fit to deliver this programming because I approach my work through a collective action lens. Through my personal and professional relationships I can connect clients with real time private and public resources that help them achieve their goals and expose clients to opportunities and resources not readily available to the average person. As GYC grows we will grow our partnerships I will deliver this programming to the fastest growing demographic of entrepreneurs, black women. I will deliver this programming to young millennials adults and professionals in Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities where the market is untapped. Through The Greatest You Consulting, we will help positively empower and transform individuals, organizations and communities to become the best version of themselves. As a first generation woman of color, my goal is to move low income communities out of poverty by helping clients to enhance and grow their talents and connect them with resources in the education world, business world, workforce, and community. As we grow, we will be able to train other young leaders to support our mission and give them entrepreneurial skills. We will also run evening and weekend workshops to accommodate schedules and offer scholarships so everyone can have access to coaching.

Reyna and I are working on this together. 💛

Yes, technology is everywhere. It’s in our pockets, on our TVs, at our dinner tables. I’m not going to pretend we can escape it — but what I do know is that as parents, we have control over what our kids have access to. And that matters.

Is it hard? Yes.

Will it take time to adjust? Absolutely.

Will it help them in the long run? Without a doubt.

I’m not perfect at this. There are days I scroll when I should be present. Days I’m physically there but mentally somewhere else. But each day, I’m choosing to be intentional — not just for Reyna, but for myself too.

Because she’s watching. And what I model today shapes the habits she carries into adulthood.

Swipe through this carousel — it’s something I put together because I needed the reminder myself. And if it resonates, share it with a parent in your life who might need it too. 🌿

Are you working on your family’s tech habits? What’s been helping? Drop it in the comments. 👇

✨ These past two days have been truly life-giving.
This week I had the honor of:

💙 Kicking things off with an anti-stigma & Narcan training for the entire 50+ person staff team at the Pawtucket Housing Authority. If your organization is looking for a training, we offer them in-person or virtually through the Pawtucket Central Falls HEZ completely free! City of Pawtucket Housing Authority

🌿 Leading a Collective Care: 8 Dimensions of Wellness workshop with the incredible and safe BIPOC Affinity Group through the RI Department of Health. If you work in behavioral health and identify as a person of color, we’d love to have you join us — we meet the first Tuesday of every month, 12–2pm. You belong here. Rhode Island Department of Health

🎨 Closing out with a Peace Love Art workshop at Raíces Dual Language Academy, where staff got a few precious minutes just for themselves — creating mandalas and receiving one of my 365-day inspirational calendars for Teacher Appreciation Week. No words can truly capture how grateful we are for educators. Nothing ever really can. 🙏🏽🥹 Central Falls Schools Raíces Dual Language Academy

Grateful for every room I got to be in this week. This is the work. 💫

Your past does not define you. But it may be shaping your mental health more than you know. 💛

67% of adults have experienced at least one Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) — and most of us were never taught what that means for our mental health, our relationships, or our healing.

Swipe through to learn what ACEs are, how they show up in your everyday life, and the steps you can take to start healing today. ⏭️

Two of my favorite things Faith + Wellness! 🤍

For so long, I searched for healing in all the external places…
but true transformation began when I started tending to my mind, body, and spirit — together.

I’m honored to hold space for this sisterhood fellowship on Women’s Mental Health 🙏🏽

Healing is holy.
Rest is spiritual.
And taking care of yourself is part of your purpose.

I hope to see you there 🤍

March 14.
A healthy outside starts from the inside.

A reminder that the work we do within ourselves matters.
Healing our thoughts.
Honoring our emotions.
Taking care of our mind, body, and spirit.

When we nurture our inner world, it shows in how we live, love, and lead.

Today I’m choosing to slow down, listen inward, and trust my purpose. ✨

Black recovery is not new.
We stand on the shoulders of giants.

From the truth-telling of Frederick Douglass, to the prevention legacy born from Len Bias’ story, to the healing-centered leadership of Chaney Allen, Mark Sanders, Vin Baker, and Tonier Cain — these are just a few of the many who have paved the way for people like me to find freedom, faith, and recovery.

Their stories are our stories.
Stories of pain, perseverance, purpose, and possibility.

Because of their courage to speak, to survive, and to lead, I am blessed to be part of a legacy rooted in resilience, strength, and faith.

Black recovery is revolutionary.
Black recovery is sacred.
Black recovery is alive in me.

🧠 News and social media can be a lot.
It’s okay to take a break.

Staying informed doesn’t mean staying overwhelmed.
Scrolling nonstop isn’t strength — it’s often our nervous system asking for relief.

You’re allowed to log off.
You’re allowed to protect your peace.
You’re allowed to come back when you’re grounded.

✨ Being present > being plugged in
✨ Boundaries are self-care
✨ Rest is not avoidance

Save this as your reminder 💛
