🥶With the de-icing salt shortage, our phones have been BUSY lately.
Quick FAQ: yes- water softener salt works for ice. It’s commonly used at apartments and pet friendly facilities because it’s cleaner and easier on animal Paws.
Works great and normal winter temps— but when Minnesota goes full tundra mode, standard salt just isn’t built for that.
⚠️Pro tip: Use salt lightly and avoid brand new concrete. (most concrete does not love salt)
🚫Just to clarify, we DO NOT sell de-icing salt only water softener salt.
Pellets work too…. they just make your driveway look like a Mentos commercial.

So I am Carrie! I’m excited to step into my role as Operations Director with MN Salt Co. At my previous employer, we proudly partnered with MN Salt Co, and now I’m excited to be part of the team - working behind the scenes and behind the phones to help keep everything running smoothly. The MN Salt Co team truly aligns with who I am, both personally and professionally, and I’m excited to grow alongside them sharing my bubbly personality, and caring nature with all of you! I am also excited to have some fun with some social media, despite Jeremy telling me "not to bother people 😁"

Outside of work, my hubby and I call Saint Peter home. I have 20-year-old twins who are out living their best groovy lives. As a family, we love the outdoors—anything that connects us to nature. Our two awesome pups are a big part of our lives too! I’m always up for an adventure, love meeting new people, and am truly looking forward to this next chapter!

A few years ago, this was just an idea, a garage, and a whole bunch of blue buckets. Somewhere along the way it turned into trucks, pallets, early mornings, late nights, and a team we’re incredibly proud of. Minnesota Salt Co. didn’t grow because of fancy marketing or shortcuts — it grew because people showed up, worked hard, and cared about doing things the right way.

The last few years have been a grind, a blast, and honestly pretty surreal to look back on. From the first buckets to where we are today, we’re grateful for every customer, every delivery, and every person who’s been part of the journey. And we’re especially excited to officially welcome Carrie to the team. She’s been the steady hand behind the scenes — bringing order to the chaos, taking care of our people, and helping us grow without losing who we are.

Here’s a little snapshot of what we’ve been up to… and we’re just getting started! Buckets > bags. Stay soft. 🧂💙
