This is an urgent call to action, to defend girl's sports under U.S. Title IX.
As you may know, Skyline High School in Ann Arbor has a boy playing on the girl's volleyball team, where they advanced to the quarterfinals.
But a group of parents in Monroe County refused to accept their daughters being forced to compete with a boy and share a locker room with him, and are fighting back with a formal Title IX complaint filed with the U.S. Department of Education.
Laura Perry, candidate for State Representative in a district that includes part of Washtenaw County, has been a leader in this fight.
Tomorrow, we need to stand with her to protect girls' sports.
We are asking parents, coaches, athletes, and community members to stand with players, parents and legislaters to demand fairness and safety for every girl in Michigan.
Our daughters deserve safety, competitve fairness, and leaders who will fight for them when others wonβt. goping to hold a press conference to address the filed complaint to the Department of Education on Monday in regards to our girls at Monroe High playing against a male athlete from Skyline and being forced to share a restroom and locker room.
It would mean a lot if you could make it.
