Storms rolling across Tennessee tonight.

If your power goes out, here's what actually matters in the first 4 hours:

Keep the fridge and freezer shut. A full freezer holds temp about 48 hours unopened. Open it every 20 minutes and you're down to a few.

Don't run a generator in a garage, on a porch, or anywhere near a window. Every year people survive the storm and don't survive the generator.

Stay away from downed lines. Assume every one of them is live.

Report your outage — utilities dispatch off reported counts, not off the storm.

One of the most powerful parts of a home battery system is the visibility it gives homeowners into their energy.
