Today is a solemn day as we commemorate all the lives lost 24 years ago and those lost in the years that followed. I remember it vividly.

When it happened no one expected it. I ran to the pit with my fellow Guardian Angels and we helped cover the shifts of first responders who were sifting through the rubble and needed rest. 24 years later I have not forgotten that day. I will not forget it and we must always remember.

My thoughts are with the families of the victims and all who were impacted. New York will always be united.

Even as a young boy I could tell this was a genuine man of honor and character. 30 years later, after figuring out who the nice man @ Uncle Johnnie's law office was, I was humbled by the fact that he always took time to greet me & say hello. He always showed the utmost respect.. even to a small kid.

Today marks the 80th anniversary of the landings on Normandy Beach.

On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline, to fight N**i Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which, “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day’s end, the Allies gained a foothold in Continental Europe. The cost in lives on was high. More than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded, but their sacrifice allowed more than 100,000 Soldiers to begin the slow, hard slog across Europe, to defeat the Axis of evil.

As the last remaining living soldiers gather in Normandy today, we implore you to take time to honor those who changed the tides of history in favor of freedom.
