A spontaneous Garden of the Gods / Colorado Springs moment. 🌄🎸

Today while hiking at Garden of the Gods, I met Yemi, a tour guide from Denver, showing his guests around the park.

He picked up his guitar and started playing, improvising this peaceful little song against one of the most beautiful backdrops in Colorado Springs. We exchanged numbers, I shared the video I shot of him, and we’ll keep in touch. 🤗

These are the kinds of unexpected local moments I love capturing while I’m out on the trails. Over the years, I’ve met musicians, visitors, local business owners, and people from all over the world while hiking here, often with a little Colorado wildlife mixed in too.

Today also happened to include bighorn sheep. 🐏

Colorado Ranks No. 1 for Child Care Workforce Support, tying with Illinois for the No. 1 spot on a new 50-state scorecard from the Child Care Trust.

Colorado’s strengths include the state’s workforce dashboard, support for access to professional development, a dedicated early childhood funding source through to***co tax revenue, tax incentives such as the Care Worker Tax Credit and the state’s Early Childhood Professional Credential (ECPC).

The Care Worker Tax Credit provides up to $1,200 to income-eligible care workers.

More than 31,000 early childhood professionals hold an active ECPC, representing 72% of Colorado’s active early childhood workforce, according to an Aug. 18 release from Gov. Jared Polis’ office. The credential recognizes education, experience and ongoing professional development.

The scorecard ranks state child care workforce systems in 10 key areas, including state laws, regulations, workforce initiatives and innovative workforce strategies.

Child Care Trust grades all 50 states and DC on the systems needed to build a stable child care workforce. See the full scorecard and key findings.

2. I met Hans, the coolest 75-year-old visiting from Amsterdam for his daughter’s wedding. He was heading in the opposite direction of his destination, the Palmer Trail, so I offered to hike it with him. We ended up having the best hour-long visit!
3. Met a lovely lady visiting Garden of the Gods Park and also found my dream sun hat with the best sun coverage I’ve ever seen. 😂
4. Lunch to go from El Chapin - The burritos are our favorite.
5. Smoked brisket grilled cheese + the best beet salad Cerberus Brewing Co. Tip: ask for the dressing on the side 😉
6. 🍕& 🍺 to celebrate my hubby’s birthday ❤️
