We're Hiring: Director of the University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute
The University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute (MU FRTI) is seeking a Director to lead our accredited Institute and advance continuing education and training for the fire service throughout Missouri and nationally.
This leadership role oversees the administration and management of all Institute programs and activities that serve volunteer and career firefighters, fire specialists, fire officers, members of industrial and institutional fire brigades, and allied emergency services organizations and agencies.
The Director sets program direction, manages operations and budgeting, coordinates with advisory groups, ensures high-quality and safe training delivery, and serves as a principal liaison with state, regional, and national partners.
Location: Columbia, Missouri
Salary: Minimum starting salary of $90,000 (final offer based on qualifications and experience)
Key qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of active fire and emergency service work experience. Leadership experience with a state-level fire training program (or equivalent) and relevant certifications (e.g., Fire Service Instructor, Chief Fire Officer, Chief Training Officer) are highly valued.
This is a 12-month academic Extension Specialist position reporting to the Assistant
Vice Chancellor of Extension & Engagement.
