Wednesday evening 5pm to 8pm is a great time to do some wine tasting! We will be at The Design Bar by Roost in Cape Girardeau. Wine tasting (free), a food truck, and a really cool place to enjoy both as well as see some incredible displays. You will get a first glimpse of the return of a very nice semi-dry white wine, Vidal Blanc. Also, the release of the 2020 Chambourcin is here. It is a dandy. We will also have a variety of other types and styles of our locally produced wines.

Ten years ago today we had the privilege of continuing River Ridge Winery. We sincerely appreciate all of the wonderful people that have made it possible. We look forward to many more years of great wine, food, friends, family, music, laughter, and all of the other aspects of owning and operating our little winery in the hills of southeast Missouri.

It is spring and the flowers are out. Some are more vibrant than others. I was tempted to say some are prettier than others, but that wouldn't be the best way to describe it. You see, most people look at these beautiful and bright Irises and are rightly attracted to them visually. However, the wine lover and grape grower look at the grape inflorescence and sees past the drab green and eventual tiny nondescript flowers to come and sees a delicious glass of wine on a future spring day. Which one is right? You can be the judge. I know my choice every time. 🍷🍷🍷

Ah, Serendipity, a pleasant surprise. With warmer days ahead I think of one of my favorite styles of wine. It is a light bodied chillable red wine with bright berry flavors and crisp acidity. The low tannin levels allow the fruitiness to come forward without any bitter bight. If you have not tried it, now is your chance. Come on out and try it!

Easter flowers are a central part of springtime celebrations, representing rebirth, purity, and new beginnings. Most people associate the Easter Lily with the holiday, but did you know there are many others? Since we do not have any of the others in bloom around the winery that I know of, we will spotlight the Iris. Irises are meaningful additions to Easter floral arrangements because they represent faith, hope, and wisdom. Also, our irises happen to be purple, which is the color of many types of grapes and wine, and that is a convenient tie-in for this discussion.

We are open on Easter Sunday. Callie & Kevin perform from 2pm to 6pm.
