⚠️ Would your SRL pass inspection?

Self-retracting lifelines take a beating on the job. A fall protection device that fails when it matters most isn't an equipment issue, it's a life-safety issue.

Some common SRL fails:
❌ Dirty interior/guts — dirt and debris buildup can interfere with the internal braking mechanism
❌ Birdcaging/frayed cable — separated cable strands are a sign the lifeline's structural integrity is compromised
❌ Ripped shock pack cover — this critical component is exposed to possible damage
❌ Deployed load-indicating snap hook — a triggered indicator means the unit has already absorbed a fall and must be removed from service
❌ Corroded tie-back hooks — rust and pitting weaken the connection point

Any one of these is enough to take a unit out of service. Catching them requires a thorough inspection every time, before every use.

Class 1 vs. Class 2 SRLs — what’s the difference?

Class 1 SRLs are designed for standard fall protection applications, while Class 2 SRLs are designed for sharp-edge applications where the lifeline may contact an edge during a fall.

Understanding the classification helps ensure you’re choosing the right SRL for the job and the hazards workers may face.

Know the class. Know the application. Stay protected.
