I know it’s hard to read however it’s the only way I could fit it on one page.
The bottom is my email to Senator Lea Webb office back in June. The top half is her response today.

DISGRACEFUL! The email and bill numbers I sent her are a stand alone bills to increase the pay for redemption centers. No fraud involved, yet this is her excuse.

She is referencing what others have said about if we raise the deposit to .10cents a container they believe people will travel from other states to gain a larger deposit. NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STAND ALONE RAISE FOR REDEMPTION CENTERS!

Container deposits and redemption center handling fee is NOT the same. Yet these people have control of our pay.

❤️ A Message to Our Customers ❤️

We want to take a moment to thank all of our customers for your continued support and understanding.

Many people may not realize that New York State has not increased the redemption handling fee for can and bottle redemption centers since 2009. Meanwhile, the cost of running a business continues to rise, including rent, utilities, payroll, and other operating expenses.

Small businesses like ours are doing everything we can to keep our doors open and continue serving our communities. Unfortunately, there are times when financial challenges are beyond our control, and we may have to close temporarily.

Please understand that closing is never what we want to do. We value every customer who walks through our doors, and we know how important our services are to you.

We kindly ask for your patience, compassion, and understanding as we work through these challenges. Behind every small business are real people working hard to make ends meet and keep things going.

Please support your local redemption centers. We need our communities just as much as our communities need us. ❤️

If you care about keeping our local redemption centers open, please take a few minutes to contact our New York State representatives and ask them to support an increase in the bottle redemption handling fee.

The handling fee has remained at 3.5 cents per container since 2009, while the cost of running a business continues to rise.

Please let our elected officials know that small, locally owned redemption centers matter to our communities and deserve a fair chance to survive.
