Bruce Starker wearing his tin hat and mackinaw on a forest road circa 1974. Bruce, an Oregon State Forestry graduate, entered the family business in the 1940s and helped to manage the company from the late 1960s to his tragic death in an airplane crash in 1975. Bruce, accompanied by his son, Bond, was flying the small engine plane to look at property the company was interested in purchasing when it went down.

Just a reminder about the panel discussion tomorrow.

The public is invited to a panel discussion, Managing Forestry for Multiple Values in a Changing world, from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, in the Peavy Forest Science Center on campus at OSU or via Zoom.

Panelists include: Colby W. Drake, Natural Resources Department manager, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde; Brent Klumph, associate director of operations at OSU Research Forests; Jenna Baker, recreation and engagement manager at OSU Research Forests; and Stephen Fitzgerald, former director, OSU Research Forests. The panel will be moderated by Mark Swanson, associate professor and interim director of OSU Research Forests.

All lectures are free and open to the public. Registration is needed for the Zoom webinar. The lecture will also be available via the YouTube channel one week after the panel. A reception will be held immediately after the lecture.
