🚢 What happens when industrial motion control meets metal 3D printing?

A team of students and engineers from BCIT and Simon Fraser University is developing an open-source wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) system designed to produce large-scale metal parts for the maritime industry!

Using LS Electric motion controllers, servo motors, and drives from AutomationDirect, the team created a three-axis gantry system designed to handle parts weighing up to 500 kg.
