In this video, our Coaching Director Wes introduces the psychology of motivation. We all have our own preferences for what drives us, the trap is assuming everyone else is wired the same way. When we default to our own motivators, we could end up speaking a language the other person might not understand.

As Wes puts it, motivating yourself and motivating others are two different languages. The leaders who make the biggest impact are the ones who take the time to learn what truly drives the people around them, and then meet them there.

What a great day with the team at Cook’s Pest Control!

We spent our time together digging into three things that shape how leaders show up every day: DISC Personalities, Blind Spots, and Emotional Intelligence.

A few takeaways that stuck with the room:

⭐️Purpose trumps personality. Knowing your DISC style matters, but great teams are built when people move in each other’s direction.

⭐️React → Respond → Recover → Reputation. How we handle pressure, conflict, and plans going sideways is what people remember.

⭐️Be a thermostat, not a thermometer. Tools like HALT and box breathing help us set the temperature instead of just reflecting it.

“You don’t rise to the occasion, you sink to the level of your training.” Thank you, Cook’s, for investing in your people and showing up ready to grow!
