FINANCIAL SECURITY

WaterColor Management has formed an alliance with TMSIC, an A.M. Best “A++” XV- rated company and selected other insurers to provide the critical liability and other insurances required by water businesses. ABOUT US
WaterColor Management (WCM) has been underwriting insurances for Water Treatment and Water Handling Businesses for 28 years, starting in the 1980’s. In the mid-1980s the insurance markets “hardened” severely. Many classes of insureds either could not find coverage or could do so only at drastically-increased premium costs. These conditions hit the Water Treatment and Water Handling Industry especially hard. WaterColor Management founded a long-term program to provide adequate coverage to help control insurance premiums and together with a number of its clients, WCM founded the Association of Water Technologies (AWT). WaterColor’s principals are John Walsh and Don Cleveland. LICENSING and LOCATIONS
WaterColor Management is licensed on a nationwide basis and our specific primary coverage is provided by Tokio Marine Specialty Company (TMSIC), a member of the Philadelphia Insurance Companies. WaterColor Management has offices located in Alabama, Florida and Bermuda with the capacity to place coverages for local and international risks. The range of insureds within our group of companies varies from one-person water businesses to worldwide organizations with thousands of employees.

Certain patterns consistently trigger underwriting delays: vague operational descriptions, incomplete revenue breakdowns, and contracts that haven’t been updated in years.

The preparation your clients complete before submission can shape underwriting confidence and how quickly a liability insurance estimate lands in your inbox.

Of all the factors that influence a water industry liability insurance premium, claims history is probably the most misunderstood — and the most likely to generate frustrated client calls. Why is a three-year-old spill still affecting pricing? Why does a business with a clean recent record still face a surcharge?

Picture a contamination claim that starts with a treatment issue, widens through the distribution system, and then turns into finger-pointing between the supplier, a subcontractor, and a testing vendor. On paper, the account may look adequately insured. In practice, the weak spots appear quickly.

That’s the problem agents need to solve when placing water industry insurance for potable water suppliers.

Geothermal systems are showing up in more commercial developments as property owners look for long-term heating and cooling solutions. Market forecasts point to continued expansion in the sector as investment in geothermal infrastructure grows. As more of these projects move forward, insurance agents are encountering a challenge: Geothermal operations do not fit neatly into a single contractor classification.

For agents serving this space, groundwater insurance provides a structure that reflects the full scope of geothermal work.

Demand for treatment systems continues to grow as more properties install filtration equipment due to concerns about water quality and forever chemicals. As more homeowners and businesses turn to filtration and purification systems, insurance placements must keep pace.

Properly structured water filtration, softening, and purification insurance should address the full scope of water-treatment exposures —

What cooling tower risks should agents watch in a water treatment program? It’s a fair question in Canada, where cooling towers still face close regulatory attention following prior Legionella outbreaks.
