What began as a casual summer conversation about the future of our city grew into a full production effort—powered by people who genuinely believe Highland Park residents deserve accessible, respectful and meaningful ways to engage with those seeking to lead them.

Whether you’re an OG Parker, HP for Life, or part of Highland Park’s next chapter, this effort has always been for the people, by the people.

I’m Sabrina Athena—media personality, producer and founder of The Goddess Werkshop—and I wanted to personally explain how we got here, where things currently stand and why my commitment to this community remains unchanged.

The 2026 Highland Park Mayoral Debate — General Election Edition is set for Thursday, October 1st at The Highland Room

Doors open at 5:15 PM
Debate: 5:30–7:00 PM

And yes — formal invitations have officially been sent to BOTH mayoral candidates.

Now we need the community to do what Highland Park does best: SHOW UP and make your voice heard.

We know the streets are watching. 👀 So if you want to see both candidates accept the invitation and meet the community on one fair, professionally moderated platform, help us show them that Highland Park wants this conversation.

WHO IS THE GODDESS WERKSHOP? 👋🏽

Allow us to reintroduce ourselves.

The Goddess Werkshop is where strategy meets visibility.

We are a Detroit-based media training, communications, brand strategy and project management consultancy built to help people with something to say — say it well, show up confidently, and make it count.

Founded by host, producer and strategist Sabrina Athena, TGW works behind the scenes and in front of the camera.

🎤 We prepare entrepreneurs, entertainers and leaders for interviews, stages and high-visibility moments.
🎬 We produce events, conversations and experiences that move people.
💡 We help turn big ideas into actual plans — with structure, strategy and ex*****on behind them.

Happy Voting Day, Highland Park! 🗳️

Today, we encourage every eligible voter to make their voice heard, visit the polls in their area, and participate in shaping the future of Highland Park.

We also want to recognize Karla Oliver for stepping forward to organize a community candidate forum and helping create another meaningful opportunity for residents to hear directly from those seeking to lead our city. Her initiative reflected the kind of civic engagement this moment deserves, and we look forward to welcoming Karla, the residents who attended, and the entire Highland Park community to continue the conversation with us early this fall.

Once the votes are counted and the field is set, The Goddess Werkshop will announce the date for the Highland Park Mayoral Debate 2026, taking place well ahead of the November General Election.

**COMMUNITY UPDATE** After thoughtful consideration, we have decided to postpone the Highland Park Mayoral Debate until late September or early October, closer to the State and Municipal General Election.

This timing will give voters more space to understand the process, follow the race and prepare to make an informed decision. At that time, we will invite the top two candidates to lend their voices in a moderated, organized conversation focused on the future of Highland Park.

A very special thank-you to our **Premiere Sponsor, The Highland Room**, our moderator ** Hudson**, and the production specialists who are generously lending their time, talent and expertise to help see this important community conversation through.

🔔Community Update RE: HP Mayoral Debate🔔

We’ve seen the questions, comments, and conversations surrounding the Highland Park Mayoral Debate organized by our team and sponsored by The Highland Room, and we appreciate the community’s engagement.

Our goal has always been simple: create a respectful, nonpartisan opportunity for Highland Park residents to hear directly from those seeking to lead the city, especially with the stakes as high as they are.

Planning a community event of this nature requires coordinating a venue, moderator, production team, and outreach to eligible candidates. While those efforts have taken place behind the scenes, our focus has remained on serving the voters—not advancing any individual campaign.

Invitations are being extended to eligible candidates, and participation is ultimately each candidate’s decision. Every participating candidate will receive equal opportunity under the same format and rules.

Whether you already know who you’re voting for or are still undecided, we invite you to join us, ask questions, and witness the conversation for yourself.

Highland Park deserves informed voters, respectful dialogue, and civic engagement. That’s what this event is about, and we hope you’ll be part of it.
