High-functioning anxiety often hides behind impressive characteristics:
Control looks like leadership
Perfectionism looks like excellence.
People-pleasing looks like kindness
Avoidance looks like “I’m too busy.”

What really happens?
Control erodes trust.
Perfectionism hinders relationships.
People-pleasing leads to burnout.
Avoidance leads to missing out, indecision, lack of productivity, more anxiety.

Hi! I’m Robyn Graham and these are the behaviors I help my clients and audiences break through to lead with calm, confidence, and consistency at home, at work, and in the communities they serve.

Approach life with presence. Slow down. Be in the moment. Acknowledge others. Listen.

Presence changes everything: your relationships, your own peace, even your healing journey.

Allow yourself to be in the moment. Get curious. Move from judgment of self or others into curiosity.

This begins a mindfulness practice.

How much time are you spending in fight or flight? Unsure?

Ask yourself these questions:

How often do I overreact instead of respond gracefully?
How often do I want or feel the need to take control of situations or others?
How much time do I spend people-pleasing
How often do I struggle with making decisions?
How often do I avoid doing things out of fear?
Are you tired of living in high alert and ready to discover a state of calm, confidence, and consistency in your thoughts, choices, behaviors, and relationships?

What are you trying to hold together so tightly?
Do you notice the anxiety beneath the surface… or only the exhaustion after carrying it all for too long?

Christian women leaders are often praised for doing it all, holding it all, and keeping everything running smoothly. But beneath the strength and the polished exterior, anxiety and the need to control can quietly take hold.

The truth is, control was never meant to carry the weight of your peace.

In this solo episode, I’m sharing Part 4 of the 7-Part Series as we talk about loosening the grip, surrendering anxiety, and recognizing how the need to control can impact your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

What would it feel like to release the pressure, trust God more deeply, and stop carrying what was never yours to hold alone?

Anxiety does not define you. You can surrender it to the Lord.

Instead of spiraling in negative thought patterns, pray, release it, and accept God’s peace that surpasses all understanding.

Philippians 4 reminds us that peace is found through gratitude, prayer, and shifting your mind toward what is true, pure, and worthy of praise.

Stop feeding fear. Start feeding faith.

Someone challenges your decision. Your chest tightens. Your brain speeds up. You either over-explain to justify yourself, shut down to avoid conflict, or snap back and spend the next two hours wishing you hadn't.

None of those are who you are as a leader. They're your nervous system trying to protect you.

The problem is that protection and leadership modes cannot operate simultaneously.

Anxiety is not the truth.
It’s your brain stuck in negative neuro pathways, trying to convince you that fear deserves authority.

The enemy loves it when you are stuck in negative emotional patterns. He will try to drive them home and expand them.

But God honors prayers for renewal.

Stop speaking catastrophe over your life and start speaking Scripture over your mind.
There is power in what passes through your mind and comes out of your mouth.

“Cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 ✨

Are you working toward excellence… or trapped in perfectionism?

Do you feel like no matter how much you accomplish, it’s never quite enough, more is needed to make things just right? Do you struggle to delegate because the task won’t be completed to your standards? Or, maybe, indecision is keeping you from moving forward? These are all signs of perfectionism.

Perfectionism often looks like discipline, high standards, and strong leadership. From the outside, it can appear admirable. But underneath it is often anxiety hiding behind productivity, and it erodes trust and leads to burnout.

In episode 435, I share how perfectionism and anxiety often go hand-in-hand, especially for high-achieving Christian women leaders. What feels like trying to achieve excellence may actually be perfectionism keeping you stuck, overwhelmed, and disconnected from the calm and confidence you need to lead effectively.

You do not have to live trapped in the pressure to do everything perfectly. There is freedom on the other side of perfectionism.
