We are a 100% volunteer fire department covering 100 square miles of first due coverage area while also providing mutual aide assistance to surrounding departments with all of the coverage area being rural farmland and small communities except for the City of Elba which is a small city of approximately 4,500 residents. We operate 1 first out pumper (Engine 1-2000 E-one Typhoon custom cab, 750 gall
on tank), 1 second out pumper/tanker (Engine 3-2011 E-one Typhoon custom cab, 1800 gallon tank), 1 tanker/pumper (Engine 4-2019 Kenworth/Deep South commercial cab, 1250gpm pump, 3000 gallon tank), 1 quick attack/rescue truck (2012 Ford F-550 with 390 gallons of water and 10 gallons of foam), 1 brush truck (2008 Ford F-350 with 200 gallons of water), 1 utility vehicle (2019 Ford F-250), 1 UTV (2019 Polaris Ranger 1000 Crew) with a foam and water capable skid unit, 1 Rescue One Connector rescue boat, 1 Circle H airboat, 1 Mobile Air and Light Unit portable cascade system with scene lighting, and 1 command vehicle (2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD). We have 28 members which hold many certfications with some being active or retired career firefighters. We have several members that are certified Emergency Medical Technicians ranging from Basic to Paramedic with the majority or remaining members being First Responder/CPR certified. While we do not respond 1st due on medical calls, we do offer mutual aide assistance to our local county ambulance company. We respond to approximately 200-250 calls for service a year ranging from hazardous material incidents, car accidents, fires, technical rescues, gas spills, natural gas leaks, and standby for medevac landings.
