Power Up reimburses employers up to $5,000 per employee to train current employees and advance them into higher-skilled, higher-paying roles. Eligible training includes industry credentials, cross-training, leadership development, and apprenticeships. Businesses of all sizes qualify.

The Workforce Ready Grant helps individuals earn certificates in advanced manufacturing, building and construction, health and life sciences, IT and business services, or transportation and logistics. It covers up to $5,000 per person ($6,000 for CDL training). This is an excellent option for new hires or employees with a high school diploma but no college degree. Together, these programs can help you develop talent from within at little or no cost to your business.

Purdue MEP’s “Introduction to Electrical Principles and Troubleshooting,“ presented by the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County, returns this September. For this particular occasion, the workshop will be presented in Spanish.

This popular hands-on course strengthens essential industrial skills, from understanding control systems to applying troubleshooting techniques on the job. Attendees practice with meters, relays, switches, and lights—ensuring real-world application, not just theory.

Suitable for all experience levels (good math skills recommended), they are trained in:
• Industrial print reading: symbols, practices, and cross-references
• Discrete vs. analog signals in control systems
• Communication types in industrial environments
• Logic gates, functions, and combinations
• Practical relay logic applications
• Machine functions (start/stop, latching, safety circuits)
• Number systems & decimal-to-binary conversion
• Digital ↔ Analog conversions
