April 15th is the deadline for residential homeowners on a fixed or limited income to apply for the Property Tax Assistance Program (PTAP). Qualifying applicants receive a reduced property tax rate reduction of 30, 50, or 80% on the first $418,000 of their home’s market value. Eligibility for this program is based on home ownership, occupancy requirements, income levels, and marital status.

The Montana Department of Agriculture’s (MDA) Student Loan Assistance Program is now accepting applications for 2026.

“The Student Loan Assistance Program seeks to help relieve some of the financial stressors that our young farmers and ranchers often face,” said MDA Director Jillien Streit. “When we can encourage or help bring a kid back to the farm, that’s a win for Montana agriculture.”

Qualified farmers and ranchers are eligible for student loan assistance through the program for up to five years.
