Emergency room visits for tick bites are at the highest level for this point in the year since 2017 across most U.S. regions.
In April 2026, the U.S. saw approximately 71 tick-bite-related ER visits per 100,000 emergency department visits, compared to about 30 per 100,000 during the same period last year.
CDC data shows more than a 25% increase in tick-related ER visits compared to April 2025.
The Northeast has been hit hardest, with some reports showing around 188 tick-bite ER visits per 100,000 emergency visits, the highest rate in the country.
