I started following John Kucko Digital a few years ago, looking forward to his '60 Seconds of Serenity' - 60 seconds of a nature video - captured and shared in the hope that it would "take the edge off a bit" for his followers. Recently, he's been battling a serious health issue, but in John Kucko fashion, has faced it with positivity, hope, and gratitude.

I tend to read comments on Facebook posts. Some make me laugh. Some irk the bejeebers out of me. Some inspire me - like the one below, from Lisa Goodwin, on a recent John Kucko Digital post:

"Life has a way of making us hold two completely different realities at the same time. Sometimes things are just incredibly hard, and the tears simply need to fall. But even when the road is heavy, the Lord continues to provide abundant blessings right in the middle of the storm. May we all find the strength to hold our pain and our gratitude side by side."

As always...
In Peace,
Cathy

Thank you, Kristy Robinett - Psychic Medium and Author, for these wise words:

There comes a point in life when you realize not every rude comment deserves a clever comeback.

Sometimes the greatest act of self-care is refusing to hand someone your peace.

I've spent years watching how words affect energy. The words we speak don't just leave our mouths. They leave an imprint. They can heal, encourage, inspire... or wound.

That doesn't mean we should become doormats. It means we can choose responses that protect our energy instead of draining it.

I love these harmless comebacks because they create a pause instead of a battle.

"That was an interesting choice of words."

"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that."

"Let's not do that."

"Well... that was rude."

"You must be having a rough day."

None of them attack.
None of them escalate.
All of them keep your dignity intact.

One of my favorites is simply smiling and saying, "I hope your day gets better."

Not because you're trying to be sarcastic, but because hurt people often hurt people.

Protecting your peace doesn't mean staying silent forever. It means choosing words that reflect who you are, not who someone else is trying to make you become.

After all...

Words are spells.

Choose yours wisely. 💛

"My ego...looks like being the first one in line to undercut my work so no one else can."

John Roedel - your words take my breath away.

“You need to undergo ego death,” a traveling mystic in blue jeans told me last summer while we shared a meal together at a fancy retreat center.
She was wearing the kind of orthopedic sandals that suggest she’s seen the Dalai Lama and also a very good podiatrist.
I picked at a giant piece of tofu that was shaped like Vermont as I pondered her suggestion. I decided right away that I didn’t like it.
Neither did my ego. We both voted against the proposition.
I broke the news to her.
“Death? What about Just an ego time out?”” I countered like a plaid-clad lawyer negotiating a plea deal for a shady client.
I was prepared to offer her a weekend of mindfulness and perhaps a slightly more expensive yoga mat if she’d just let me keep my personality’s security guards at the door.
The lady, whom I had just met in the vegan buffet line, didn’t smirk at my comment in the way I had hoped she would.
She leaned forward with both elbows on the table and looked across at me, her brown eyes widening like two well-fed sponges.
“No,” she said. “You are ruled by your ego. You can’t let rule inside of you anymore.”
I was offended. Me?
Ruled by my ego?
Simple, humble me?
A buffoon of a man who doesn’t submit his poetry to literary agents because it feels too ambitious?
A 50-something man who treats a “Like” from a stranger in Ohio as a terrifying brush with global fame?
Me?!
The man who self-deprecates so viciously I’ve become my own 19080’s movie schoolyard bully?
Me?!!
The poet who sometimes forgets to put his own name on his poems when he he shares them with the world?
Egomaniac?
Me?!
No way. I barely like myself. How could I be one of them?!
But something quiet inside of me who sits in the back row of my conscious raised their hand in agreement.
That hand stayed up Long enough that I wanted to swat it down with a laminated retreat schedule.
Because here’s the scoop….
I had just met this woman. Thirty minutes earlier she was a stranger with a name tag and sensible arch support.
Now she was mapping the load-bearing walls of my inner life while chewing roasted beets.
She told me she was traveling the country collecting spiritual experiences the way some people collect refrigerator magnets.
Sedona.
Esalen.
Omega.
A sound bath in a yurt that cost more per hour than my first car.
She said the cancer inside of her had made everything urgent. She was running out of time and had no interest in being gentle with people who still thought they had plenty of it.
Which explained why she skipped the warm-up questions and went straight for the artery.
“I heard you read your poetry last night.”
“You were there?”
“No,” she said. “I was outside the door.”
She told me she wasn’t part of my retreat. She had just been walking down the hallway, heard my voice, and stopped. She said she leaned against the wall and listened.
She said my poetry made her cry.
I felt that small, shameful bloom of relief. That familiar hunger of my insatiable vanity being briefly fed.
Then she continued.
“And then,” she said, “the way you apologized for them made me cry again.”
I asked her what she meant.
“You kept undoing yourself,” she said.
“After every poem, you rushed to make yourself smaller. You made jokes that stepped in front of the feeling. You spoke as if you were embarrassed by your own voice. As if you needed to reassure the room that you weren’t about to take up too much space.”
She paused.
“That,” she said, “is also ego.”
That’s when our conversation turned.
Because the truth is, my ego doesn’t initially show up like arrogance.
My ego is a perverse version of humility that I have weaponized against myself. It looks like being the first one in line to undercut my work so no one else can.
It looks like me saying:
“Oh, this old thing?”
about the one damned thing I’ve bled for.
My ego looks like me refusing to name my hunger because I’m afraid that wanting anything out in the open will make me unbearable.
I don’t usually confess this outside the furry snuggles of my ever-patient sheepdog priest, Ralph:
I am terrified of being
seen without a buffer.
Without humor running interference. Without humility clearing its throat before I open my maw to speak.
I learned early that
being small was safer.
That likability could pass for belonging.
That if I stayed agreeable and poked fun at myself, I could exist without provoking rejection.
So when she said “ego death,” what I heard was “exposure.”
A call for me to end my existence of hiding in plain sight. What I heard was….honestly, I stopped hearing anything. My ears were ringing like I’d been glove-slapped by an angel wearing sweatpants.
I had been.
She was talking about full blown emotional nakedness.
I looked at her then. Really looked. Like we were old besties who hadn’t seen each other since college graduation.
Here was a woman in her mid-seventies. Cancer pacing her like a clock she could hear ticking inside. Still showing up to hallways and buffets and saying the truest thing she could before time ran out.
She wasn’t trying to wound me. She was just in a hurry…cancer had eaten her patience for watching a grown-assed man hide behind his fear of claiming his own life.
“Your ego,” her voice dropped an octave,
“isn’t protecting you. It’s keeping you from the last room.”
That did it. Bingo bango bongo.
Because I know that room.
I only enter it when I’m cracked open enough to stop performing my tightly rehearsed survival dance.
It’s where I admit that I want to matter. That I want my voice to stay in the air a moment longer.
That I don’t want to apologize for being here.
I didn’t tell her any of this, of course. I’m often mute with cowardice.
I just nodded and took
another bite of Vermont.
The work continues….

✨ Today's Daily Card for July 14,2026 - from Angela MacLellan✨

Thank you, Angela, for sharing this SUPER timely message!! 💜💚

Today choose compassion and love. Not everyone is living their life the way you want them to and that is ok. Instead of focusing on what they are doing wrong or why they are the way they are, show compassion and send love. This will release you from the battle of the ego trap, comparison, judgment and resentment. In truth, this ego trap only ruins your day, not theirs. They continue to live their experience the way they choose and here you are carrying this ball of discontentment that throws you out of alignment and raises your blood pressure. It’s not about being right or sticking it to them,if it was you would have felt satisfied by now. Try choosing love and compassion. This may look like stepping back and sending a prayer out for them to find peace. It may look like accepting that this is who they are while understanding accepting doesn’t mean approving. It could also look like not taking the bait when something cynical or crusty comes out of their mouths, instead respond with light and love. Understanding that their words are a reflection of them and not you. Choosing love directly impacts your experience and ripples out to others.

Sending love and light always xo

Thank you, Kristy Robinett - Psychic Medium and Author, for this beautiful reminder.
"You were meant to bloom in your own strange and beautiful way."

There is something magical about the peacock. 🦚✨

It does not apologize for being colorful.
It does not shrink itself to make others comfortable.
It does not hide the parts that make it different.

And honestly? Neither should you.

So many of us spend years trying to blend in, soften ourselves, quiet our gifts, dim our personalities, or hide the very things that make us unforgettable. But your quirks, your sensitivity, your creativity, your loud laugh, your strange ideas, your intuition, your softness, your strength… those are not flaws.

They are the feathers.

You were never meant to be ordinary.
You were meant to bloom in your own strange and beautiful way.

This is your reminder today to stop minimizing yourself just because someone else is uncomfortable with your shine.

Darling, you were born to stand out. 💜

Thank you, John Roedel - A short writer. for this. 💚💜

“Are you ready for things to get back to normal?” the woman asked me from across the waiting room, like normal was the goal we were all supposed to be racing toward.

I smiled and shook my head.

“I wasn’t very good at normal,” I said. “I’d like to give weird a try.”

She blinked. I blinked back.

Things got awkward. I always make things awkward.

She blinked again.

I blinked back again.

At that point we were basically communicating in eyelash morse code, so I slowly blinked out the poem I’d been carrying around inside me:

I’m not waiting for things
to go back to normal.

Normal already had too much of me.
It kept asking for smaller versions
of who I really was.

I’m ready for things
to get stranger.
Wilder.
More honest.

Normal played the same few songs
on a loop until we all forgot
how to dance.

But something in us has cracked open.
Something in us is humming.
I can feel it in my chest like a loose spark.

We’re all shaking our old shells off,
turning into these polka-dotted creatures
with new wings we don’t know how to use yet.

Your plain old blood is shifting colors.
Mine too.

You can feel it, can’t you?
That low rumble in your spirit
like a car warming up in the driveway
before a long overdue road trip.

We’re not made to stay the same.
We never were.

Normal had its season.
Let the strange have its turn.

There’s a river of light running in you
that didn’t even exist
before you were born.

You are rare.
You are wild.
You are beautifully off-center.

And this—right now—
is exactly your kind of season.
Because you weren’t built for normal.
You were built for wonder.

After I was finished, I worried
she hadn’t understood the poem
I had painstakingly blinked her way.

She squinted at me and said,
“I think you’ve got something in your eye.”

Yep.
I always make things awkward.

What a blessing it is to be strange.

Chronic Fatigue, Energy Sensitivity & Spiritual Exhaustion - A Gentle Conversation on Energy, EMFs, and the Soul’s Need for Rest

Over the years I’ve noticed something interesting among highly sensitive people, empaths, healers, medical workers, intuitives, caregivers, and those constantly holding space for others. Many of them are exhausted.

Not just “I need a nap” tired.
Soul tired.
Body heavy.
Mind foggy.
The kind of fatigue where your nervous system feels like it’s been humming for too long without a chance to fully power down.

Now before I go further, I want to say this clearly: chronic fatigue deserves medical attention and support. Please always advocate for your health, labs, hormones, sleep, nutrition, mental health, and nervous system care. Spiritual support should walk beside medical support, not replace it.

But energetically? I do believe some people absorb far more than they realize.

And I especially think this can happen in environments filled with constant stimulation, emotional intensity, technology, noise, fluorescent lighting, and strong electromagnetic fields. I’ve had clients who work in hospitals, MRI, emergency medicine, tech, caregiving, and even schools describe feeling completely energetically depleted by the end of the day.

It’s as if their body never fully “unclenches.”

So today I wanted to share a few gentle energetic tools that many people find supportive.

✨ CRYSTALS OFTEN USED FOR ENERGY PROTECTION & FATIGUE SUPPORT

🖤 Black Tourmaline
Grounding, protection, helping sensitive people feel less energetically “open.”

🖤 Shungite
Often associated with EMF support and energetic detoxification.

🌫 Smoky Quartz
Excellent for grounding stress, overwhelm, and emotional heaviness.

💜 Amethyst
Calms the nervous system and supports rest and spiritual clarity.

🪨 Hematite
Stabilizing and grounding, especially when feeling scattered or drained.

🌌 Labradorite
A favorite for empaths and intuitives. Helps with energetic boundaries.

⚡ Tektite
Often used for energetic clearing and protection around heavy environments.

☀ Citrine
Helpful for motivation, vitality, and restoring a sense of personal light.

🌿 SIMPLE ENERGY SUPPORT PRACTICES

• Turn Wi-Fi off while sleeping if possible
• Avoid sleeping near electronics or chargers
• Open windows often and let fresh air move stagnant energy
• Take salt baths after emotionally heavy days
• Spend time barefoot on the earth
• Hydrate more than you think you need to
• Sit quietly in the morning before immediately grabbing your phone
• Place grounding stones near your workspace or bedside
• Rest without guilt

That last one matters more than people realize.

Many sensitive people push themselves past exhaustion because they’ve spent years being the helper, the caretaker, the strong one, the listener, the healer.

But even healers need healing. Even strong people need softness. Even spiritual people need sleep, boundaries, nourishment, laughter, and stillness.

And sometimes healing doesn’t begin with “doing more.” Sometimes it begins with finally allowing yourself to slow down enough to hear what your body has been whispering all along.

Your exhaustion is not a moral failure.
Your body is not betraying you.
You are not lazy for needing rest.

You are a living, breathing soul having a human experience in a very loud world.

Protect your energy accordingly. ✨

The Weight We Were Never Meant to Carry -
We often carry so much in our hearts that was never meant to be held forever. There are the echoes of mistakes made years ago, or the words spoken in heat that we replay endlessly. Then, there are the wounds others have given us—the betrayals that still sting and the disappointments that changed how we see ourselves.
All of this becomes a heavy, unnecessary suffering. It weighs us down, making it so much harder to walk freely through the lives we are meant to live.
But there is a gentle way to release this weight: Forgiveness.
Forgiveness is not about pretending harm didn't happen. It is simply a choice of the heart that says: “I will no longer let this define me. I choose to set this burden down because carrying it is only hurting me now.”
• Forgiving ourselves for being imperfect frees us from the silent prison of shame.
• Forgiving others for their own struggles frees us from the poison of resentment.
When we let go of the story that we must continue to suffer, space opens up inside us. The tightness in our breath eases. Inner peace is not something we have to build; it is the natural light of the heart that reveals itself the moment we set our heavy burdens down.
You deserve to forgive yourself for being human, and to forgive others for being human, too. Let it go—gently, with great compassion to others and to yourself. As you release what you do not need to carry, you will find a quiet, steady peace waiting there to shine.
May you and all beings be well, happy and at peace.

Thank you, Walk for Peace, for this beautiful post.
