Fort Hood Fire Department Special Operations spent the week at the 2026 Oklahoma Swiftwater Rescue Conference at RIVERSPORT OKC. More than 120 responders from 40+ departments and 4 countries.
Then they brought hardware home:
🥇 1st — 40 hp Boat
Capt. Goldman (operator), Battalion Chief Wallace (bowman), Firefighter Trujillo (rescuer)
🥈 2nd — 40 hp Boat
Capt. Ryan Borland (operator), Battalion Chief Rasmussen (bowman), Firefighter Trujillo (rescuer)
🥈 2nd — Team Swim Medley

🥉 3rd — Individual Swim

The medals matter but the week mattered more, the training we were able to accomplish, the new skills learned and the connections made from other likeminded people. The point was the work: advanced swiftwater skills, and high current decision making we can bring back to Fort Hood and our mutual aid departments around us. Flash flooding here doesn’t wait for a whitewater park. This week was how we get sharper before the next call, training is our foundation that we continue to build on.
