Happy Father's Day!

Today, the Galesburg Firefighters Association proudly recognizes the fathers among our ranks and throughout our community. Being a firefighter means answering calls at all hours, missing holidays, birthdays, and family dinners, and making sacrifices that often go unseen. Yet through it all, these men continue to be role models, providers, protectors, and loving fathers to their children. Thank you to the dads who serve their families with the same dedication they serve their community. Your strength, sacrifice, and commitment do not go unnoticed.

Maple Street Fire Station is being demolished. Chief Hovind comments, “It was the first station I worked at with Captain Simkins and Firefighter Scott Benson. It was how I always pictured a fire station to be, and it was by far my favorite place to be stationed. In 1999, the building wasn’t in great shape back then, but it had lots of character. I reflect that generations of Galesburg firefighters had served there before me all the way back to the early 1900s.”

Traffic on East Fremont St between Harrison St & Russell Avenue is closed due to an emergency. Please avoid the area and make travel arrangements accordingly.

Family Court is accessible from Harrison St direction.

This closure could last as long as 24 hours per Ameren.

School is out and food pantry needs are up! Please consider a contribution to our food drive. Convenient drop off for the requested items listed below!

❤️ Did you know? When school ends for the summer, kids who rely on school meal programs lose that daily safety net. Local food pantries step in — but only if their shelves are stocked. That's why the City of Galesburg is holding a city-wide food drive on Friday, June 12.

Every can. Every box. Every bag. It goes directly to FISH of Galesburg, right here in town. 100% local. 100% for our neighbors.
