Letting other people work with the newer mustangs is a great way to give the horses exposure and experience to different ways of handling and different energy levels from their handlers. Only having one person work them is one of the ways to make a horse into a “one person” type mustang

Trying to desensitize horses like this is detrimental to them. Having them stand frozen and ready to blow up does not help them think through problems and encourages more reactivity. If you cannot tell the difference between a relaxed/thinking horse and one holding itself still, you need to find someone who can help teach you to read their body language before you turn your horse into a ticking bomb

Ember is the type of horse to get herself very worked up and tense, leading to explosions of reactivity if pushed too far. My focus is on getting her to start being able to think through all situations while staying soft and responsive

By the end of the ride Jolene was tracking the donkeys on her own, and really starting to rock back during her turns

Drift finally stands perfectly for mounting, but we still have some issues to work through with dismounting. He’s still easily caught off guard by things I do while ridden so my focus at the moment is getting him softer to the bridle, and more relaxed with anything I might do in the saddle
