It’s Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 19–25), and we’ve got to give a very special shoutout to one of our favorite… “volunteers.”

You know the type — not exactly a volunteer, more like a volunTOLD.

Behind the scenes at Gillette Main Street, there’s a certain husband who somehow ends up helping with everything his wife “suggests” (aka directs). From working TEC, to hanging banners, to moving (and re-moving… and storing… and re-storing) large desks, he’s always there when we need an extra set of hands.

We see you. We appreciate you. And we admire your ability to say “sure” before you even know what the task is.

All jokes aside, we are so grateful for all of our volunteers — whether you signed up willingly or got lovingly recruited. You help make our events, projects, and downtown community thrive.

🔺11/17/2025 10:11AM - UPDATE - Buffalo, WY Internet is restored. If your services are still down, please call our office to work with internet support to troubleshoot. Thank you all for your patience.

🔺11/17/25 8:45AM - Attention BUFFALO, WY Customers - there is another fiber issue with our upstream provider that is causing internet outages for your area. We have been informed the upstream provider is aware of the issue and is getting it repaired. We do not have an ETA as of yet but will keep you informed as we know more. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding you have shown over the last week.🔺

🔺UPDATE Nov 14 11:51am - Buffalo tower is back up!
🔺UPDATE Nov 14 9:45am - Moorcroft tower is back up TEMPORARILY - we have some equipment to replace so brief outages will still happen but by this afternoon the service should be stable.
🔺UPDATE Nov 14 8am - We have two tower sites down this morning. Moorcroft and Buffalo. We have a crew on site in Moorcroft to bring that tower site back up. The Buffalo tower site is an upstream fiber provider that is down - we are waiting for that to come back up to restore services.
🔺UPDATE Nov 13 7pm - All tower sites are back up!
🔺UPDATE Nov 13 2:02pm - as power is restoring we are sending crews to get all tower sites back up. Please be patient as we are receiving news that the unstable power may cause additional outages throughout the evening.
🔺Nov 13 12:40pm -There is a mass power outage that will effect our internet services. We are watching all services to ensure they come back up once power is restored.

UPDATE: As of 5:00 p.m., all City substations are back online and power has again been restored.

If you live in the City limits and do not appear to have electricity on in your home, you may need to check the breakers. You may need to flip your main breaker as well as your panel breakers.

PREVIOUSLY:
As of approximately 2:20 p.m., all of the City is out of service again. We are being affected by a widespread regional outage and do not have an expected return to service at this time.

As of approximately 1:40 p.m., service has been restored to all City of Gillette electricity customers.

As of approximately 12:40 p.m., all of Gillette is out of power. At this time, we do not have an estimated time for service to be restored. Please follow our page for updates as they become available.
