🐭🛠️ What Does Rodent Exclusion Actually Look Like?

We've spent the month talking about the problem.

Now let's look at the solution.

In the final video of our October rodent series, our Lead Pest Technician, Ian, shows you our rodent exclusion service in action and walks through some of the tools and materials we use to address potential entry points around a home.

Depending on what we find, exclusion work may involve addressing areas around:
🔹 Doors and vents
🔹 Garage areas
🔹 Plumbing and utility penetrations
🔹 Foundation openings
🔹 Other potential entry points

The goal is to identify where rodents may be getting in and address those opportunities to help keep them outside.

Think your home may have potential rodent entry points?

Call our office at 804-266-4608 to schedule a free exclusion inspection with Ian today!

🐭 We've Found the Entry Points. Now What?

Throughout October, we've talked about:
Why rodents come inside.
Where they like to go.
And how they may be finding their way inside.

On Wednesday this week, we're putting it all together.

Our Lead Pest Technician, Ian, will take you into the field to show you our rodent exclusion service in action, including some of the tools and materials we use to address potential entry points.

🎥 Our final October rodent series video drops Wednesday!

And we'll be sharing how you can schedule a free exclusion inspection with RichPro.

🐭 They Don't Need a Large Gap

One of the biggest things to understand about rodent entry points:
They don't necessarily need a huge opening to get inside.

Small gaps the size of a quarter or even a dime around:
🔌 Utility lines
🚰 Plumbing
💨 Vents
🚪 Doors
🏠 Foundations
can create opportunities for rodents to enter a home.

That's why identifying potential entry points is such an important part of addressing rodent problems.

Next Wednesday, our Lead Pest Technician, Ian, will show more of what rodent exclusion looks like in the field, including some of the tools and materials we use to address these types of issues.

🎥 Stay tuned for the final video in our October rodent series!

🔍🐭 How Are Rodents Getting Inside?

We've talked about why rodents come inside and where they like to spend time.

Now we're getting to an important part of the conversation:
Finding the entry points.

In this week's video, our Lead Pest Technician, Ian, walks through some of the common issues we find when looking around homes for potential rodent entry points.

That can include areas around:
🚪 Doors and garage doors
💨 Vents
🔌 Utility lines
🚰 Plumbing penetrations
🏠 Foundations
…and other openings around the home.

This is where rodent exclusion comes into the picture.

Exclusion focuses on identifying potential entry points and addressing those openings to help prevent rodents from getting inside in the first place.

🎥 Watch Ian's video to see some of the issues we encounter in the field.

Next week, we'll show you what addressing those issues can actually look like.

🐭 So...How Are They Getting Inside?

Over the last two weeks, we've talked about:
🐭 Why rodents come inside during the fall and winter seasons
🏠 What they're looking for inside your home
🚗 Why garages can be especially appealing

But there's one big question we haven't answered yet:
How are they getting inside in the first place? 🔍

That's what our Lead Pest Technician, Ian, is tackling in tomorrow's video.

He'll be showing us some of the common rodent entry-point issues our technicians find around homes — including areas homeowners may not think to check.

And once you know what to look for, you'll start seeing potential entry points a little differently.

🎥 Check back tomorrow for Part 3 of our October rodent series!

💗 Breast Cancer Awareness: Know Your Resources

At RichPro, being a family-owned, locally operated business means that our team is more than just coworkers—we’re a group of people who care about one another, our families, and the community we’re fortunate to be part of.

Breast cancer has touched our RichPro family in personal ways, which makes Breast Cancer Awareness Month especially meaningful to us. 💗

While awareness is important, so is knowing where to turn for reliable information and support.

The American Cancer Society offers resources covering:

🎀 Breast cancer screening and early detection
🎀 Risk factors and prevention
🎀 Diagnosis and treatment
🎀 Support for patients and caregivers
🎀 Life after treatment
🎀 Clinical trials and research

They also offer a 24/7 cancer information helpline at 1-800-227-2345 for those looking for answers, guidance, or support.

This October, we’re encouraging our RichPro community to do something simple: share reliable information, make time for important screenings, check in on someone you love, and remind those affected by breast cancer that they don’t have to face it alone.

From our family to yours, we’re standing with everyone in our community who has been impacted by breast cancer. 💗🎀

🐭 Take a Look Around Your Garage

After this week's video with our pest technician, Matt, make sure to take a quick look around your own garage.

Are there areas where you have:
📦 Cardboard boxes or clutter creating hiding or nesting spots?
🥫 Pet food or other food stored in accessible containers?
🚪 Gaps around the garage door weather-stripping?

None of these automatically mean you have a rodent problem.

But they're worth paying attention to as we head into the colder months.

A little awareness now can help you catch potential issues before they become a bigger headache. 🐭

10/14/2026

🐭 Why Do Rodents Like Garages?

Your garage might not seem like the most comfortable place to you...
But to a mouse or rat looking for shelter during the colder months, it can offer exactly what they're looking for.

Garages can provide:
📦 Places to hide and nest
🏠 Protection from the elements
🍽️ Potential food sources
🚪 Access to other areas of the home

In this week's video, our pest technician, Matt, discusses why rodents may be drawn to garages during the fall and winter seasons.

🎥 Watch the video to hear what Matt looks for in this area of the home.

Next week, we'll start looking at the other side of the problem:
How are rodents actually getting inside? 👀🐭

🐭 Okay, They're Inside...Now Where Do They Go?

Last week, Matt talked about why rodents may start looking for shelter inside homes as temperatures drop.

But once they get inside, where are they likely to go?

Garages and crawlspaces can offer rodents the protection they're looking for during the colder months.

Tomorrow, Matt is taking a closer look at these areas — with a particular focus on why your garage may be more appealing to rodents than you think.

🎥 Part 2 of our October rodent series is coming tomorrow! Stay tuned!
