What a great morning of connections, laughs, and community at Greeters this week hosted by Cascades of Grants Pass!

We enjoyed an incredible breakfast on the lawn while learning more about one of the Rogue Valley's largest retirement communities and the lasting impact they have on residents, families, and even future healthcare professionals.

A few highlights from the morning:โ˜€๏ธ Sq**rt gun gifts helped everyone beat the heat
๐Ÿพ Candy reminded us to get those cats and dogs spayed and neutered
๐ŸŽ“ The Maslow Project shared an impressive 91% graduation rate among program participants, compared to Oregon's statewide average of 61%
๐ŸŽญ Summer theatre camps are available through Rogue Valley Performing Arts Alliance
๐ŸŽ‰ Bristol Hospice is celebrating 20 years of service
๐ŸŽ‚ Happy Birthday, Lance!
๐Ÿ’œ Welcome back Lori Nissen from ST Home Health & Wellness

We also heard about upcoming opportunities to get involved, including the Chamber member appreciation show at True Juice Health & Arts Hub..Fresh Juice & Smoothies featuring The Medicine Show Revival, Farmer's Building & Feed Supplyโ€™s Dad's the Best event this Saturday, and another exciting week of Concerts in the Park activities ahead.

Every week Greeters reminds us why this community is so special. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and especially to Alexander and the team at Cascades of Grants Pass for their hospitality!

๐Ÿ“ธ A Parade, a Fair, and the Blueprint for Southern Oregon

This photo stopped me in my tracks.

Taken on North 6th Street in 1907, this parade was part of the Grants Pass Irrigation and Industrial Fair. Look closely and you'll see a float promoting irrigation infrastructureโ€”something that would help transform farms, businesses, and the future of the Rogue Valley.

What caught my attention wasn't just the horses, wagons, or the history.

It was why the fair existed.

According to records from the Percy Booth Collection, the event was organized by the Grants Pass Commercial Club, which would later become the Grants Pass Chamber of Commerce. Their goal wasn't simply entertainment. They intentionally brought together farmers, merchants, miners, builders, investors, and residents to showcase everything the region had to offer.

Sound familiar??

They organized displays for:
๐ŸŒพ Agriculture and farm products
๐Ÿ„ Livestock and poultry
โ›๏ธ Mining and natural resources
๐Ÿชต Lumber and building materials
๐Ÿšฃ Recreation and river events
๐Ÿš— Emerging technology and transportation
๐Ÿช Local businesses and commerce

They understood something we're still learning today:
Strong communities are built on strong connections.

The Josephine County Fairgrounds create those connections physically.

The Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce creates those connections organizationally.

And every business, nonprofit, volunteer, educator, farmer, and community leader who helps others succeed continues that tradition.

In many ways, this isn't just a historic photo.

It's a reminder that Grants Pass was built by people who understood that prosperity doesn't happen in isolation. It happens when neighbors know neighbors, businesses support businesses, and communities invest in themselves.

The technology has changed.
The principle hasn't.

Only 42 days from today until the fair begins, who's ready?!

Also, if you'd like to know more about the Chamber, lay it on me in the comments!

Last week, a crew of travel influencers, journalists, tourism champions, and economic-development pros joined Hellgate Jetboat Excursions for an unforgettable ride down the Wild & Scenic Rogue River. ๐Ÿƒ

Between adrenaline-charged spins through Hellgate Canyon and dinner at the River Lodge Restaraunt, Co-Owner Travis Hamlyn shared the nearly 70-year story behind this home-grown icon (est. 1959), proof that world-class adventure has always lived right here in Grants Pass.

The outing was a powerful reminder of our most valuable assets: awe-inspiring nature, legendary local businesses, and the people who champion both. Ready to see parts of the Rogue most folks never will? Book your seat, hold on tight, and !
