*UPDATE: All buckets have been distributed."

A recent fire in Hamilton Township serves as an important reminder about the dangers of improperly disposed fireplace ashes. In January 2026, a fire occurred in Hamilton Township that was caused by ashes from a fireplace that had been cleaned out and not placed in an appropriate container.

To help prevent another incident, the Hamilton Township Fire Division – Fire Prevention Bureau, in conjunction with the Nottingham Volunteer Fire Company, has purchased ash bucket safety kits for Hamilton Township residents.

Starting on September 28th, residents will be able to pick up a FREE ash bucket kit, while supplies last, from the hours of 9AM to 3PM at 200 Mercer Street. Don't miss out!
