Here’s what homeowners miss. Even when termites avoid treated wood directly, they often travel around it and attack untreated nearby materials, including drywall backing, roof framing, insulation boards, cabinetry, or adjacent wooden structures.

As chemical preservatives weaken over time, older treated wood may lose effectiveness altogether.
