Friday Fire Prevention Tip 🔥

As we head into the weekend and are charging up our gadgets, this is a good one to think about. Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. If you have to charge them inside or in the garage, do not block exits. These batteries store more energy, and fires can grow quickly if they fail. .

Fire prevention tip #1 🔥

Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire faster than you think. .

It’s Fire Prevention Week! This year’s theme by the NFPA Is, Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.

This week we’ll share some tips of everyday actions that can help prevent something you may not often think about: lithium-ion battery fires. Though battery fires are relatively thought of as rare, the total number of incidents is rising quickly as e-bikes, scooters, and other rechargeable electronics become more common. Stay tuned for helpful tips throughout the week!

Every installation starts long before the equipment goes in. Because we aren’t a “one size fits all” business, our team takes time to understand how each family or business uses their space so that we can recommend a security system that is the best fit for what’s needed.

From careful wiring, to correct placement, to thorough testing, we take pride in doing the job right.

Thank you for trusting Southern Alarm to protect what matters most!.

Security cameras don’t stop crime…but they often make criminals choose another house.

Visible cameras are one of the most effective ways to deter crime. When people know they’re being watched, they’re less likely to take the risk. And if an incident does occur, clear video footage can provide the evidence you need. Prevention, protection, and peace of mind—all in one.

Need security cameras for your home or business? We’ve got you covered..

In Loving Memory of Ryan Vandermaten ❤️

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved technician, Ryan Vandermaten, who passed away after a short and difficult battle with cancer.

Ryan was part of our Myrtle Beach team for over eight years, and in that time he became so much more than a colleague — he was a friend to everyone he met. Hardworking and dedicated, Ryan brought a wealth of experience and expertise in operations management to everything he did. He carried himself with a calm, quiet strength that put everyone around him at ease.

Outside of work, Ryan had a heart for animals, especially dogs, and his kindness extended to everyone in our community. He had a gift for making people feel valued, and he will be deeply missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ryan’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Rest in peace, Ryan. You will be forever missed.

Many people assume burglars always break windows—but the front door is actually one of the most common entry points.

A few simple habits can make a big difference:
✔ Lock your doors, even when you’re home.
✔ Make sure exterior lighting is working.
✔ Consider a smart lock so you always know who comes and goes.

Home security isn’t about living in fear—it’s about giving your family peace of mind.

Have questions about protecting your home? We’re always happy to help.
