Part 2 of my conversation with Derek Minor about the legendary Soundtrack Beat Battle.

One thing Derek touched on that really stuck with me was how different that era felt. We weren’t showing up for algorithms, engagement numbers, or clout. We showed up because we wanted to be the best

The Soundtrack Beat Battle created an environment where producers pushed each other to another level. You’d hear somebody play a crazy beat and it made you go back to the studio ready to come back with 🔥🔥🔥. We made each other better.

It was friendly competition, but it was also community. We celebrated each other’s wins while challenging each other to grow. That combination created an atmosphere that helped develop some incredible talent and lifelong relationships.

One of my favorite moments from the Nashville Producer Meetup with was when we talked about the Soundtrack Beat Battle, which is one of the most important chapters in Nashville music history, especially for the urban and rhythmic sound.

Huge shout out to Courtney Eason () for creating a platform that gave producers a place to compete, connect, sharpen their skills, and build their names. From to the legendary Limelight, the Soundtrack Beat Battle became a proving ground for a generation of Nashville talent.

It brought through guests, judges, and panelists like 1da, the late , and so many others. It also helped shine a spotlight on producers like , , Mike Ewing, Derek Minor, myself, and a whole lot of talented people who would go on to have success at the highest levels of the industry.

What I loved most about it was that it helped show the world that Nashville’s talent pool goes way beyond country music. There have always been incredible producers, artists, songwriters, and creatives here across every genre. The Beat Battle gave many of us a stage to prove it.

It’s an honor to celebrate another year with you.

Three years ago, what I can only call divine alignment brought you into my life… my best friend, my mirror image, a beautiful queen straight outta Jackson, Tennessee.

Your energy, your love, your light touches everybody around you. I’m blessed enough to experience it a just a lil bit different 🤏🏾… as 🎶 ya man, ya man, ya man 🎶 ….

Ever since we met, it’s been one long celebration. Like a constant party with just enough breaks to catch our breath.

And it don’t seem like it’s slowing down anytime soon 😂.
