STOLEN 2011 TOYOTA RAV4 — HELP NEEDED

A follower is asking for help locating their 2011 Toyota RAV4 after it was stolen from an apartment complex parking lot in the Timbergrove/Heights area of Houston.

According to the vehicle owner, two individuals arrived at the complex in an Infiniti around 4 a.m. on August 28. The individuals allegedly broke through the property’s gate before leaving in the RAV4.

The stolen vehicle is a 2011 Toyota RAV4 with Texas license plate XSK7488.

The Infiniti the individuals reportedly arrived in had Texas license plate VGY1357.

The incident was reported to the Houston Police Department.

HPD Report #: 109128126-J

The owner provided surveillance video that captured the incident.

If you live in the Timbergrove, Heights, Lazybrook or surrounding areas and have doorbell-camera, surveillance or dashcam footage from around 4 a.m. on August 28 that may show either vehicle, please review your footage.

Anyone with information that could help locate the RAV4 or identify those responsible is asked to contact HPD. Please do not confront anyone you believe may be involved.

❤️ A LITTLE GOOD NEWS FROM THE WOODLANDS.

Firefighters at The Woodlands Fire Department found a tiny hummingbird struggling inside the station’s truck bay and immediately stepped in to help.

They gave the exhausted bird sugar water, some air conditioning and a little TLC until it made a full recovery. 🥹

The hummingbird was then released safely back into the wild. ❤️

Sometimes the smallest rescues make the best stories.

Dashcam video captured the moment a Porsche crashed into Pappasito’s Cantina sign, directly across from NRG Stadium, after exiting 610 onto the service road.

The vehicle struck a power pole support cable, went airborne and slammed into the restaurant’s sign structure. The impact damaged the power infrastructure and knocked out power in the surrounding area.

🚨 TEXAS HALTS STATE FUNDING FOR FLOCK CAMERAS amid growing concerns about privacy, data sharing and alleged misuse.

Governor Greg Abbott directed state agencies to pause the use of Texas funding for the AI powered license plate readers.

A Texas Tribune investigation found that at least $30 million in state funding helped expand the network, including approximately 3,200 cameras installed since 2023. Some of the money came from a $1 annual fee added to Texans’ auto insurance policies to combat catalytic converter theft.

IMPORTANT: This is not a statewide ban. Cities may continue operating Flock cameras using local or federal funding.

The issue also affects Houston. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office operates approximately 480 cameras and recently restricted three deputies’ access while reviewing possible misuse.

Flock Safety says the technology helps police solve crimes, locate missing people and recover stolen vehicles.

🚨 MANVEL’S MAYOR IS CALLING FOR THE CITY TO END ITS FLOCK CAMERA CONTRACT over concerns involving privacy, data sharing, cybersecurity and cost.

Manvel is located in Brazoria County, south of Houston, near Pearland and Alvin.

Mayor Dan Davis supported the system in 2024 but says new information about Flock’s data platform and contract language changed his position.

Manvel’s four-year, $137,000 agreement covers 21 license plate reader cameras. Davis believes the money could be redirected to other public safety or infrastructure needs.

IMPORTANT: The cameras have not been ordered removed. The mayor cannot terminate the contract alone. The Manvel City Council is expected to discuss the issue on September 8.

Davis also said he is not against license plate readers in general. His concerns are specifically related to Flock’s system, data practices and cost.

Should Manvel end the contract or keep the cameras operating?

🚨 SIX ARRESTED IN MAJOR PETROLEUM THEFT INVESTIGATION involving a Texas-based oil and gas company doing business as Vallee.

According to the Texas Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority, the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Organized Oilfield Theft Prevention Unit worked with local, state and federal agencies to execute 17 search warrants across Texas and Oklahoma beginning August 12.

Authorities say the investigation involves the alleged trafficking and resale of stolen petroleum products.

Items and assets seized reportedly include:

• 60 vehicles valued at approximately $2.85 million
• More than $786,000 in cash
• Approximately 2,600 barrels of petroleum products valued at more than $220,000
• Jewelry and luxury watches valued at approximately $443,000
• Eight bank accounts containing an estimated $8 million

The warrants were served in Reeves, Rockwall, Kaufman and Hunt counties in Texas, as well as Garvin County, Oklahoma.

Six people, including members of the company’s corporate leadership, were arrested and face state charges. Authorities say the investigation remains active, and additional arrests and seizures are possible.

All charges are allegations. Those arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

FATAL CRASH UNDER INVESTIGATION NEAR NRG STADIUM

A fatal crash is under investigation along 610 near NRG Stadium and Pappasito’s Cantina.

Preliminary information indicates a silver or gray Porsche exited the freeway onto the service road at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control. The vehicle left the service road, struck a support cable connected to a power pole and became airborne, before crashing into the Pappasito’s Cantina sign pole. The vehicle came to rest wrapped around the sign structure.

At this time, preliminary information indicates the Porsche may have had only one occupant. That information has not been officially confirmed.

The crash also damaged the power infrastructure, with a power line coming down across the freeway. CenterPoint Energy has been called to the scene, and residents and businesses in the surrounding area have reported power outages.

Multiple freeway lanes remain blocked while emergency crews investigate the crash and utility crews work to make the area safe.

This is an active investigation. Details remain preliminary and may change as officials release additional information.

FATAL CRASH NEAR NRG STADIUM — POWER LINE DOWN, FREEWAY LANES BLOCKED

A major fatal crash is under investigation along the South Loop near NRG Stadium, in the area of Pappasito’s Cantina.

Preliminary information from the scene indicates a silver or gray Porsche left the freeway, crossed the service road and entered the median before jumping a curb and striking the Pappasito’s Cantina sign. The vehicle ultimately wrapped around the sign.

The collision also snapped a power line, leaving the line down across portions of the freeway. CenterPoint Energy has been called to the scene, and multiple people living in the surrounding area are reporting power outages.

Freeway lanes are currently blocked while emergency personnel investigate the fatal crash and crews work to secure the downed power line. Drivers should expect significant delays and avoid the area if possible.

The identity of the person who died has not yet been released. This remains an active investigation, and details are subject to change as additional information becomes available.
