SHE SAID SHE WANTED TO GO TO JAIL... SO SHE DID!!

On June 14, 2026, Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the 2000 block of Milstead Vista Drive in reference to a disturbance.

Upon arrival, deputies identified the female involved as Mildred Bradley. During the investigation, it was determined that Bradley would be transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

While being detained, Bradley became combative, kicked a deputy in the groin, and stated that she wanted to go to jail.

Mildred Bradley was immediately placed under arrest and subsequently booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Assault on a Peace Officer. Her bond was set at $500.00 out of the 178th District Court.

“Assaulting a law enforcement officer is never acceptable and will not be tolerated,” said Constable Mark Herman. “Our deputies put themselves in harm’s way every day to serve and protect this community. Anyone who chooses to assault one of our deputies will be held accountable for their actions.”

TEXAS TROOPER DIES IN THE LINE OF DUTY

Texas DPS is mourning the loss of Highway Patrol Trooper Sergio Romero, 27, who died Wednesday afternoon while attempting to conduct a traffic stop along US-287 near Childress.

According to DPS, a truck-tractor semi-trailer pulled out in front of him, causing his patrol unit to collide with the vehicle. Trooper Romero died at the scene.

He had previously served with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office before joining DPS and was stationed in Childress. He leaves behind his wife, Francisca, and two young sons.

DPS said Trooper Romero is the 244th DPS officer to die in the line of duty since 1823.

Our prayers are with his family, friends, fellow troopers, and everyone who loved him. 💙

🚨 TOW TRUCK FAIL DURING TEXAS FLOODING 😳🌊

What started as an attempt to rescue a stranded vehicle ended with another vehicle becoming part of the problem.

Video from Marshall, Texas shows a towing operation going terribly wrong as floodwaters overwhelmed the scene, leaving the vehicle partially submerged during the recovery attempt.

The incident happened as heavy rainfall caused significant flash flooding across parts of Marshall, where multiple vehicles became stranded and emergency crews responded to several water rescues. Officials reported no injuries, but the flooding was severe enough to shut down portions of Highways 59 and 80.

It’s also a reminder that floodwater is often deeper and more powerful than it appears. Texas officials continue urging drivers to follow one simple rule:

Over the course of a four-day traffic enforcement initiative, SETX District 2B Troopers  worked tirelessly across I10 and U.S. 59 highways to help reduce crashes, deter criminal activity and keep travelers safe during increased traffic associated with FIFA World Cup events.

🖤 REMEMBERING JOSHUA BAER (1975–2026)

Texas lost one of its most influential entrepreneurs this week.

Joshua Baer, founder and CEO of Capital Factory, died Tuesday night after a business jet crashed near Laredo while returning to Texas from Mexico. Five other people on board survived. Authorities continue investigating the cause of the crash.

Born on December 25, 1975, Baer became one of the driving forces behind Austin’s rise as a major technology hub.

He launched his first startup from his dorm room at Carnegie Mellon University in 1996 and spent the next three decades helping entrepreneurs turn ideas into successful companies.

In 2009, he founded Capital Factory, an organization that grew into one of the most influential startup accelerators and venture networks in the country. Through Capital Factory, thousands of founders received mentorship, funding opportunities, office space, investor connections, customers, and support to build their businesses.

Baer was often referred to as the “Godfather of Austin’s Startup Scene” because of the enormous impact he had on Texas entrepreneurship. He also taught entrepreneurship at the University of Texas and served as Entrepreneur in Residence for the Department of Computer Science, helping inspire the next generation of innovators.

Beyond business, friends and colleagues described him as a mentor, connector, investor, and someone who genuinely wanted others to succeed. His personal mission was simple:

“I help people quit their jobs and become entrepreneurs.”

Joshua Baer is survived by his wife, Amy, and their three children.

His influence helped shape Austin’s tech ecosystem, supported hundreds of startups, and impacted countless careers across Texas and beyond.

Rest in peace, Joshua Baer.

🚨 FALLING GLASS SHUTS DOWN PART OF DOWNTOWN HOUSTON

A section of Capitol Street in Downtown Houston was temporarily closed after glass reportedly fell from a nearby high-rise office building.

The closure affected Capitol Street between San Jacinto and Fannin as crews responded to the safety hazard. Photos show what appears to be a damaged glass panel high up on the building’s exterior.

No injuries have been reported at this time, but the incident serves as a reminder of the challenges of maintaining Houston’s growing skyline.

If you’re heading downtown, expect possible traffic impacts and avoid the area until officials determine it is safe.

🚨 ARRESTED FOR THE FIFTH TIME IN JUST FOUR WEEKS

A 28-year-old woman has been charged with felony theft after deputies with Harris County Precinct 5 say they caught her leaving a store near N. Eldridge Parkway with more than $900 worth of unpaid merchandise.

According to Constable Terry Allbritton’s Office, deputies responded to a shoplifting call and found the suspect exiting the business carrying two baskets filled with merchandise.

What makes the case stand out is that authorities say this is her FIFTH separate theft charge in the last four weeks.

The suspect was taken into custody and charged with felony theft.
