You know it's funny, I got called a liar by quite a few commenters on my Casey Kasem videos.

Kerri Kasem hired me during one of the hardest periods of her life because she wanted answers, transparency, and humane care for her father. That’s it. Anybody who actually followed that case closely knows how painful and complicated it was for the family.

At the end of the day, it's hard to care about internet detectives sitting behind keyboards trying to rewrite history or say something did or didn't happen. I was there. I worked the case. And I’ll always have respect for Kerri for fighting for her father when a lot of people would’ve walked away.

This review means so much to me because behind cases like this are real families going through hell trying to protect somebody they love.

Had a great discussion yesterday with Joel Waldman of the Surviving the Survivor show to talk about the Lynette Ho**er overboard case in the Bahamas.

As this story continues to make headlines, I was invited to join the panel and share my perspective as an investigator alongside maritime safety expert Mario Vittone and the rest of the STS team.

No, I can’t bust you out of a foreign prison like it’s an action movie.

I’ve seen people lose their retirement, inheritances, businesses, and entire life savings because they trusted the wrong person.

And the sad part is a lot of these scammers looked successful.

Nice suits. Maybe a nice office. Perhaps he drives a fancy car. Always with big promises.

That’s exactly how guys like Tom Petters pulled off a multibillion dollar Ponzi scheme for years. He convinced investors the money was tied to legitimate retail deals with major companies. It was all fake.

Same thing with Michael Eugene Kelly. Thousands of victims, many of them elderly, lost hundreds of millions trusting somebody who sold them a story instead of reality.

Most fraud cases have warning signs:

• pressure to act fast
• guaranteed returns
• no transparency
• constantly moving money around
• excuses when you ask questions
• people living way beyond what makes sense

People think scams only happen to “stupid” people.

Wrong.

Some of the smartest investors in the world got involved in these schemes. That’s why due diligence matters.

Before you hand somebody your money, know who they are.

People hear the words “runaway child” and think the kid is just nearby having fun somewhere.

That’s not reality.

A runaway child is vulnerable. They’re angry, emotional, scared, impulsive, and usually willing to trust the wrong person because they think somebody finally “understands” them.

I’ve worked these cases for decades. A lot of these kids are approached by people promising food, shelter, money, protection, or a “better life”. Sometimes that ends in trafficking. Sometimes drugs. Sometimes violence. Sometimes they never make it home at all.
The goal is not just finding them, it’s getting to them BEFORE the wrong people do.

And once they’re home, families need to deal with what caused the problem in the first place. Otherwise it happens again.

That’s the hard truth.

Time is the most important thing in cases like this.
A single decision can turn into distance fast. In this case, it already had.

What started as a family argument quickly turned into a missing persons situation spanning hundreds of miles. Every hour matters when someone is on the move, especially when they’re alone and making unpredictable decisions.

This is why acting quickly is everything.
