Big news for the drag racing community. Well done Peter Scalzo and team

The Riverhead Town Board has approved two special-event applications for Race Track Not Street drag-racing series at Calverton Enterprise Park in Calverton, authorizing separate 2027 summer and fall event schedules for applicant Peter Scalzo, subject to insurance, safety review, runway-use agreements and other town conditions.

The approvals, adopted May 20 as Town Board resolutions 2026-507 and 2026-508, cover the “2027 Summer Classic” and the “2027 Championship Series.” Both resolutions identify Scalzo as the applicant and describe the events as drag-racing series to be held at Calverton Enterprise Park. The fiscal impact statements for the same measures refer to the purpose as Race Track Not Street events at “EPCAL Motorsports Park.”
