This Labor Day, we recognize the work behind the uniform.

Imperial County firefighters continue to answer the call—not only here at home, but across California.

Our members are currently on our third crew rotation assisting the State of California on a strike team, with each crew committing to a 14-day assignment away from home and their families to help protect communities threatened by wildfire.

We know the importance and value of the service we provide. Whether responding to an emergency in Imperial County or deploying hundreds of miles away to assist another community, our firefighters continue to do their part.

When firefighters deploy to assist the state, the responsibility to protect Imperial County doesn’t disappear. Our stations still need to be staffed. Our engines still need crews. And when someone calls 911, firefighters still need to be available to answer.

We are proud to serve Imperial County and the State of California, and we will continue advocating for the staffing and resources necessary to provide the level of service our communities deserve.

This Labor Day, we thank our firefighters and all working men and women for the work they do every day.

THANK YOU. 🚒❤️

Over the past few weeks, our firefighters, families, and community showed what can happen when we stand together.

Because of your support, your voices, your shares, and your presence at the budget hearings, we made real progress. Nearly all of the items we advocated for were addressed in one way or another.

These weren’t luxuries — they were resources needed to safely serve our communities and support the firefighters who answer the call every day.

Our work isn’t finished. The Fire Department still faces a significant deficit, and Station 6 remains closed. We will continue advocating for solutions and working toward further progress.

But today, we want to recognize everyone who helped us get this far.

To our members who showed up and spoke up, to the families who support them behind the scenes, and to the public who stood beside us:

Thank you for standing with your firefighters.

Your voices were heard. Your support made a difference.

We look forward to continuing this progress together.

Our message has always been about protecting our communities and making sure the firefighters who answer your calls have the staffing, resources, and support they need to do their jobs safely.

We serve this community every day, and knowing that our community stands with its firefighters reminds us exactly who we’re fighting for.

Why is the Imperial County Fire Department continually being singled out?

Every time your firefighters advocate for staffing, equipment, PPE, or the resources necessary to safely serve our communities, we're reminded of the same thing — the deficit.

We acknowledge the deficit. What we're asking is:

Why does it exist? What's driving it? And what's the County's plan to actually fix it?

Firefighters don't choose which communities we're responsible for protecting. We don't control emergency call volume, fuel prices, apparatus repairs, medical supplies, or the cost of complying with Cal/OSHA requirements.

But when you call 911, we respond.

We appreciate the members of the Board of Supervisors who are asking questions and recognizing that there's another side to these numbers.

Now we're asking the public to stand with us.

Progress starts with communication.

The Imperial County Firefighters Association would like to thank Supervisors Martha Cardenas-Singh, Jesus Escobar, and Peggy Price.

For taking the time to reach out, ask questions, and better understand the operational needs of the Imperial County Fire Department.

Good decisions start with good information. Meaningful stakeholder engagement and data driven decision making are important steps toward continuous improvement, operational readiness, firefighter safety, and better service to our communities.

We know there is still work ahead, but we appreciate the willingness to listen, learn, and have these conversations.

Our firefighters have continued to show up for Imperial County.
Through staffing shortages, excessive overtime, aging equipment, and continued challenges.

And when our Fire Chief stands before the Board of Supervisors and advocates for his firefighters and his department, we stand behind him.

Now we're asking the public to pay attention.
