πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ Please join us in wishing a very happy birthday to IRCC Board Member Barbara J. Baird, our Governance Chair! πŸŽ‰

Barbara has been part of our Board since 2013, and her impact on Indiana's LGBTQ+ community reaches far beyond the boardroom. As an Indianapolis attorney, she has built her practice around the issues that matter most to our community β€” second parent and foster parent adoptions, wills, trusts, estate planning, domestic partnership agreements, and other non-traditional family matters.

She has also been a steadfast supporter of organizations advancing equality and non-discrimination for LGBT and HIV+ Hoosiers, including Lambda Legal, Indiana Equality, and IYG - Empowering Q***r Young People!

Thank you, Barb, for over a decade of leadership, advocacy, and dedication to our community. Happy birthday! πŸŽ‚

πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ Big news from one of our IRCC members!

Congratulations to the Indianapolis Men's Chorus (IMC) on beginning an exciting new chapter!

IMC has officially joined the Butler Arts Collaborative at Butler University, establishing a new organizational and rehearsal home in Lilly Hall on Butler University's campus.

This new space gives the organization the room and infrastructure to support its continued growth, and opens the door to new opportunities for collaboration, shared resources, education, and community connection alongside fellow member arts organizations.

We're so happy to see IMC join their new neighbors in the Collaborative β€” American Piano Awards, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (ICO), and Indianapolis Symphonic Choir β€” in this next phase.

Go Dawgs, and congratulations, IMC! 🎢

Now Showing at IRCC Member The District Theatre

LUNGS by Duncan Macmillan
Presented by ZED Teatro LLC. | Sept 11 & 12 at 7:30 p.m. | Sept 13 at 4:00 p.m.

Our friends at District Theatre are bringing something special to Indy this weekend: LUNGS by Duncan Macmillan. This is a play that has genuinely traveled the world β€” from its 2011 rolling world premiere at D.C.'s Studio Theatre and Sheffield's Crucible Theatre, to an Edinburgh Fringe Award in 2015 (no small feat among 3,000+ shows), to stages across Germany, Austria, India, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Australia, and New Zealand β€” before returning home more refined each time.

At its heart, LUNGS is about a couple wrestling with love, climate anxiety, and the enormous decision of whether to bring a child into an uncertain world. Macmillan doesn't hand you easy answers β€” he just asks the question underneath it all: if we wait for certainty, will we ever choose at all?

πŸ“… Sept 11 & 12 at 7:30 p.m. | Sept 13 at 4:00 p.m.

KILA'DELPHIA
Presented by the The District Theatre, produced by IBTC (Indianapolis Black Theatre Company) | Sept 9–27

Originally created by playwright DP Demarco in the mid-2000s in response to the devastating toll of urban violence, this play has sparked conversation for nearly two decades β€” and it hasn't lost an ounce of relevance. Produced by the Indianapolis Black Theater Company, this staging follows young people navigating loyalty, fear, love, faith, and the choices that shape their futures, set against a city caught between hope and heartbreak.

It's raw, it's powerful, and it asks a question we've heard echoed in other great works this season: how do individuals and communities break destructive cycles and build something different?
