Some will disagree, but... Teachers should be eligible for full retirement after 20 years of service. But consider what 20 years in the classroom actually means. Twenty years of arriving before the first student and leaving long after the last one.

Twenty years of lesson planning, grading, conferences, extracurricular activities, professional development, and adapting to constant changes in education. Twenty years of carrying the academic, emotional, and social needs of hundreds, sometimes thousands, of students.

-We often talk about teacher shortages.
-We talk about burnout.
-We talk about retention.

Yet we rarely talk about creating incentives that honor the incredible demands of the profession. What if we viewed teaching more like other high-impact public service careers? What if a teacher who dedicates two decades to shaping future generations could retire with dignity and financial security?

The question isn't whether teachers deserve our gratitude.

AI is not the goal; learning is. Too many conversations about AI in education focus on the tool rather than the learning. The SAMR + AI Framework reminds us that the real question isn't

"How can students use AI?"

It's:

"How can AI help students think more deeply?"

When we intentionally align AI with Bloom's Taxonomy, we move beyond automation and toward authentic learning experiences.

✅ Substitution = AI helps students complete a task.
✅ Augmentation = AI improves efficiency.
✅ Modification = AI redesigns learning.
✅ Redefinition = AI enables entirely new learning experiences.

The future belongs to educators who design learning first and technology second.
